Agreed. @Junk Chimera has some great ideas for tabletop terrain on his channel.

I went to my local Dollar Tree yesterday and found painted metal Street Fighter figures. They only had Ken left, but he's a muscly guy in a sleeveless gi and handwraps. Makes a good mini for a monk pc.

I have an interesting story with the pool noodles. I played in a D&D club that used a system where characters could come from any world. We had one guy, a black dragonborn named Donacor, who's back story was based in Norse mythology. When these characters hit level 17, they have 3 chances to take on a very difficult game to earn a legendary item. Donacor was given a challenge by Odin to fight Baldur for the horn of valhalla. Well we didn't plan on making this easy. Baldur was gonna have some help from a certain world serpent. So we made sections of Jormungandr out of pool noodles and construction paper scales with the help of at least 7 or 8 people and many hours up until about 15 minutes before the game started. I have a picture, and if I can find it, I'll upload it to imgur and put it in the replies.

My dollars store carried a knock off jenga. Glue 2 to 3 pieces together for a modular wall markers. Added some 1 inch wood squares from Michael's and popsicle sticks for more complicated builds.

I mean, that wibbly dragon was absolutely captivating. A bit too wibbly for painting. But if you don't mind home-brewing some kind of ooze dragon, you could drop it into a game as-is.

I really wanted to educate folks on: floral foam for D&D crafts = bad, as many folks don’t know the difference ‘twixt the two “foams”. What an odd and funny sentence to type. Hahahaha!

Only just got into D&D it's a great hobby and this DIY element really adds an extra layer of depth to the game. great video

Your dollar tree is much better stocked than mine, every time I go to get supplies they're always out of styrofoam and sand and tea lights 🤦🏻‍♀️ I think I live in an area where there are a lot of crafters because every time I go the shelves are practically bare, loved your video though!

Man your dollar tree has a much bigger art section! Smaller towns can make things harder to be cheap. But I have found acrylic paints and 2oz Modge Podge for $1 at Dollar General (which isn't a dollar store per se, but a cheap version of Walmart). I scope out clearance bins every where. Found black tapers for 2 bucks for 4 of them. Edit: checked the Modge Podge bottle and it was 2 oz. not 1.

In this video I went to several stores. One in particular is super amazing, though.

Craft sticks are definitely not a great deal at the Dollar Store; you can get a box of 10,000 or whatnot for dirt cheap. Buy 'em in bulk!

Could use that last purple dragon for an young ooze dragon lol

I don't even know if we have dollar tree in France 🧐 Maybe the equivalent would be Action or Noz but it's not as cheap as Dollar tree and there isn't styrofoam-- sad

I love the dollar store for getting my crafting stuff. Surprised you didn't see Mod Podge, the stores near me all have Mod Podge in 3oz size which is the best per oz price I have found for it. I also did some price shopping on the craft sticks/Popsicle sticks and found the 100 for $1 is actually a pretty good price. My store has 2 sizes, the large ones are in a 100 pack, but then they have thin ones too with 300 in a pack. So that's a good option for making ladders or wood flooring.

In the same vain I got 2 tubes of animals 1 for 5$ at target where I got 40 and then another for 7$ at the zoo, I got an employee discount so it was more like 12$ that had about 15, but they were of a much higher quality, neither were super amazing, but they are good for bear/wolf attacks and you can pass em to the druid.
