I haven’t touched Alchemy much. Hopefully this ends up being the thing I am looking for. Basically DM screen (screen 1), map screen (screen 2, maybe a TV on a table) and the ability to pull in characters, info, and dice rolls from Beyond (since I already spent a fortune on Beyond). Trying to build the perfect digital + in pets setup

Came across your video while searching for guides on using Alchemy. Your video and explanations are top notch and currently there isn't anyone else I can find making Alchemy content. With the successful Kickstarter I hope this drives a bunch of traffic in your direction. Hopefully you make more videos as well because I appreciated the help from your content.

Great video! With the Kickstarter for Alchemy V1.0 currently on going I think this kind of guide will be invaluable to new users. please continue this series!

Very well structured video and presented in a instructable way. I haven't used Alchemy yet myself, but I've been loosely following and like what I see. I mostly use VTT for in person games as a visual aid since I don't have physical mini's or terrain so I'm hoping they expand their mapping tools. Subscribed for more content like this to show me how Alchemy could work for my games.

Hi! So, the markdown code block (done with three opening backticks: ``` - tildes are these things: ~) is often used for blocks of code, and the word immediately proceeding the backticks indicates the format (For example, py or python indicates that the block should be styled as python code). Callouts are ambiguous, and may refer to the style produced by using closing chevrons (>) at the beginning of a line. For the purpose of Alchemy (and markdown generally), using a newline immediately after the third backtick avoids any removal of content.

This is exactly correct, he's just doing the ~ wrong and using a single quote lol. If you are not used to programming and markup in general its easy to not know this. No fault to mrdaveii, but emiliakiller5754 is correct.

This sounds fantastic for obsidian users as the notes are already in the markdown code.

Thanks. This is interesting. If I can find a way to export characters from beyond then that will be a result.

This is ok for loving text stuff from dnd beyond over, but what about maps and NPCS? Still seems like that’s the majority of the work.

Can you do this with PDFs? Really useful!

There are extensions out there that let you convert a PDF to markdown. The challenge with PDF's is that you are at the mercy of how the PDF was created in the first place. I have found that most RPG PDF's need A LOT of work (clean up) once converted to markdown. 80-90% of the work is done when converting DnD Beyond content to markdown as show in the video. Most PDF's iv'e tested only get you about 50% of the way there... I might do a video showing the process.

Yep - Alchemy still uses markdown for its content input.

I absolutely loathe WotC and by extension D&D Beyond (wish they had remained a partner and never owner), but this is pretty cool. Not gonna lie.
