That’s the gift we get from actual musicians performing that have studied music, I’m 62 years young, and it pains me to c folks thinking computer musicians r the best musical scientist that have lived, 51 people on the stage and I can’t figure out what one of them r saying, and someone’s sampling something, glad u got a job but ur not a musician, passionate musicians last, because they understand music is an adventure that has to be explored, to do that truly u need music theory on some level, cause u run out of stuff to play and get bored or boring, in short I agree with ya, live music with REAL MUSICIANS playing instruments will always last,, forgive the essay,,,, I’m just long winded, 👌🏾

ummm NO only because this dude makes 1 album every 10 years. There is no Funking with james or prince. You need BODIE$ of work not 3 albums in 30 years. Eye still love him though. I thought he would take the baton and run with it. $ay 20 albums in 39 years but KNOW. (NO)

Betania Apratto Straight Prince Detroit circa 86’, James Brown and Cameo. They were just having fun. I missed that tour. Spanky and Jeff Lee Johnson RIP. Pino, Questlove, Robert Glasper and Anthony Hamilton....🤯🤯🤯

I wished that D'Angelo and Prince would have done a duet or an album together, it would have been wonderful.

Actually Pino Palladino told a story on a podcast somewhere that D'Angelo's band had put a great set together in Prince's neighbourhood and invited Prince to come see the show. That was around the early 2000s too. That show would have more or less been this show right here. But the problem was that Prince was jealous of D's group because at the time they simply outfunked Prince. So he said that sadly he couldn't come because he had to go to Marrakesh or something silly like that. Wouldn't come because he couldn't face it. A couple years later Musicology came out. Still no match for Voodoo but he did give it a good try.

For my meager money, D'Angelo AND the Soultronics, give everything and more, that I've gone to concerts, to see and hear all of my life ! The instrumentalists play,- the fool, outta their instruments; the back-ups sing each note, in their particular keys--perfectly! and "St.Michael (no irreverence intended); I'll say "Yoda" masterfully handles our place, in this universe with Soul and Superiority ! "May the Force Be With Us"-- always !!!

The first one is Lady, then he goes into Fire by The Ohio Players, then Jonz is my Bonz, then they kick ass for a bit and return to the chorus of Lady.

Good god almighty! Wish I was there to enjoy THIS. D and the soultronics set the Netherlands on fire! That's the way to do it!

This was the best concert I have been too while living in Europe. I love North Sea Jazz Festival but this was the icing on a great cake.

Yeaaah, another GRAMMY for D'ANGELO!

He's an amazing artist with awesome musicians. and indeed one of the only worth it to be compared with Prince....

That slow down around 8:30 is unbelievable. Quest is a metronome, but the rest of the rhythm section dusts it too. So tight.

He was also definitely channeling Prince, with the "1", "1 more", some of the chants, the horns. Questlove is a huge Prince fan.

i saw all 4 parts too and was very impressed. D had me feeling it in my bones like the last time i saw the late james brown in concert. wonder if he can bring it in 2013 like he did in 2000.
