The stiff faced and unenthusiastic majority of the crowd shocks me. Probably one of the best BET award live performances I've ever seen. Vocals check. Instrumentals check. Stage presence check. This is what I call a solid standing ovation performance.

Yeah he had them in awe in complete trans-fixation and on their feet moving. I BET there was many there that hadn't done that in years, hence looking a little stiff but a lot looser on the inside after that performance!

I think, as far as his approach to his music, D'Angelo is more like Donny Hathaway. Don't forget, Prince stole his style from lots of people - James Brown, Sly Stone, Jimi Hendrix especially.

The most underrated Artist in my opinion 🤦🏽‍♂️. Which his why he’s my favorite. A true musician/artist in the Purest form. CD, Pino, & Isaiah Sharkey are locked in as usual 🔥 That whole performance flew over a top of peoples heads. I get that you like Bey, but not only is she NOT in D'Angelo's category, or atmosphere, she would have known about funk or GoGo if it weren't for A'merie. D'Angelo is so far out there that he took several seats knowing that his talent wasn't appreciated. Ironically, the best black artists of our time have always been more supported and appreciated by foreigners overseas. Bey's daddy taught her to be an imitator who knows one thing and one thing only; how to manipulate and make bank.

It saddens me that music like this isn’t appreciated as much as it was and should be. But people like me and you and many others know what real music is.

D'Angelo brought the sexy, funky, religious vibes and rolled them all into one in this performance. I never want to recover from this experience.

I was at one of his first shows back from his long hiatus, in London. It was incredible, I've never experienced anything like it. He was not the headliner but when his set was over the crowd genuinely was done and left. The majority of people came to see him and only him at the festival

Why did he not get a standing ovation? Gosh I miss good music

Pino's presence and playing just stabilizes any stage and venue. Just something about his bass lines that just fits into a song like the piece of a puzzle.
