That Voodoo tour and Untitled music video took a toll on him. People looked at him more as a sex symbol at that time and he wanted to be recognized and respected more for his music than be a sex symbol.

The way the music industry operates, I am glad he ain’t about that life (mainstream). The man knows his worth and we appreciate him for it. I met my wife at one of his concerts. Named our first born D’angelo

This came on today while I was in the shower and I literally starting crying because of the amount of joy that overtook me. I haven’t felt that in a while... D’Angelo you are a gift.

D’Angelo is def one of the greats...his talent grossly undervalued and unappreciated 😒

Smokey would give props to this rendition. If you gonna do a cover, you gotta come correct like this. And the slight variation in the chorus is tastefully done. Puts that extra R&B stank on it. This was a great fit for his album 🎵💯
