"CZ 75 B: Red Dawn" by Nutnfancy
Ғылым және технология
This is a reference standard in lots of ways for service pistols costing around $400. In the TNP inventory being tested for two years, this CZ 75 B Cold War version was a fun test. Technically it's not a B model but the essentials are there [discussed] and it's close enough. Limited to 1000 pieces world wide, the "Red Dawn" [red star] CZ 75 is very cool: laquered filled red star, crylic slide stamping, and CCCP serial number. This $425 handgun delivered amazing collectiblity and specialness and yet retained the 1st Kind of Cool capabilities of the 75. Steel framed and with a tough black polycoat that refused to show wear, this CZ 75 rocked TNP drills and extensive paper testing [shown in detail]. It proved to be extraordinarily accurate in shooting, helped by a trigger job from Impactguns Gunsmith Terry "Yoda" Gardner. Firepower at 16 rounds in 9mm is adequate and on par with the competition. Other than an unimpressive and gritty stock trigger, the ergos on the CZ 75 are beloved by many with good reason: perfect grip, perfect angle, decent sights [3 dot here], low bore axis, squard trigger guard, roomy trigger guard, top frame anti-glare milling, spur hammer [ring style in regular B model], and good plastic grip panels. Downsides are reduced slide grasping with the slide-in-frame design. Quality and fit on this Cold War CZ 75 are excellent and with its forged barrel, this handgun will last generations of hard use it seems. There were reliability problems however. These are discussed and shown in the video, along with remedies. In the POUs of range, recreational, casual competition, home defense, and collectible, the CZ 75 B is a win. Being so heavy, I would opt for many other pistols in SAWC limited systems. But in terms of enjoyment level, value, durability, and ability to put rounds on target, it's as good as any other.///////////////////////////Nutnfancy Likability Scale: 9 of 10 (once made reliable)

It's always nice to see another right-handed, left eye dominant shooter. :)
CZ 75 sp01 is the winner in the lineup. No hate on the phantom review, Nutn but I'm kinda done with plastic framed handguns. I want to see some indestructible firearms haha
$425!!!! What a great price....
I've owned three CZ 75s and two CZ 82s, never had a single malfunction in any of them. I looked like a show off at the range because the accuracy is outstanding on the 75s! CZ is the finest pistol you can buy.
I conceal carry my CZ-75 B (Omega) daily, no issues. I really don't get all the flack people give about the "heavy" weight of guns. Personally I think the extra weight is a positive thing.

I agree, now for long guns heavy weight can be a killer.

+Ender3D I have a BD and my only real issue with it is size. for conceal, I'd prefer something a bit smaller (and perhaps lighter by weight) than a CZ 75. Still, I love the gun; high quality and fun to shoot. I just don't think it's a great choice for conceal carry, but maybe that's just me.

+DistendedPerinium I guess my opinion/point of view comes from having previously carried a full sized 1911 for over 10 year's before I got the CZ. I've got a few smaller pistols over the years that conceal just great, but I still find myself always coming back to the CZ. (and on rare occasion, I'll strap on the 1911)

+Ender3D I carry a SAR B6P compact which is a poly framed copy of the CZ75 compact. My CZ75 fits the holsters and sometimes I swap them out. It's really no big deal, but maybe it would be with smaller people or guys paranoid about printing. Or girly men :)
When I first fired a pistol this was one of them (as a package thing... Im in europe so its hard to go shooting) I got my hands on the SP-01 phantom (among other guns USP, glock, Jericho) and for a those brief 6 rounds it became part of me. The most comfortable pistol iv ever held and it was a nail driver. Although my first time shooting the instructor was convinced that I had shot before. If only I could do it more often...
Love my CZ75B and CZ75P01, both in 9mm. Best out-of-the-box pistols I've ever fired and my P01 is with me on a daily basis. I installed Hogue grips on the B but other than that they're both factory, and you are SO right about CZ customer service, second to NONE!
I've developed a vicious lust for the high polish version of this gun. It's crazy good looking to me.
I own a CZ-75B and I believe that only the .40 cal model has the full slide rail. The B just stands for the firing pin block alone and has nothing to do with the slide rail. At least that's how I understand it.
The 75 is without question in the top five service pistols in the world. Top 3 in my book. I have a 75B in polished stainless, & love it to death.
Ive got a CZ-85B made in 92 in Czechoslovakia I paid $200 for it BNIB covered in crusty wax paper and mummified cosmoline, and it is a B but its called a "transitional" its got a squared trigger guard a spur trigger, no full length slide rail, its lacking the firing pin block, since it was made in 1992 it was one of the first CZ's to become available. The machining and quality are amazing, its as well made as any other pistol.
I just purchased my first handgun which was a CZ 75b. I just wanted to say I've been watching your videos for a long time and as always you provide stellar reviews, back to the point by watching this video it justified my purchase.
You always got groovy music Nutn.
Love my CZ75 B Omega but wasn't impressed with the trigger so I stuck in a Cajun Gun Works short reset kit. Now it's pretty sweet. I carry the poly copy of the CZ75 compact, the SAR B6P9C and it is an absolutely AWESOME gun that can be had for around 240 bucks on sale all the time. IMO the best BEST pistol in it's price range by far.
This TNPr is a proud owner of a Cold War commemorative CZ-75b as well. Thanks for this review, Nutn. I"ve been waiting on this one a while. :) PS: I like to rock this classic pistol in a classic leather holster and belt. It just seems right to carry a weapon in the manner that was prevalent during its time. In this case the 80's!
Mr Nutnfancy, here we are just over 2 years since you posted this vid and I must say that it is still relevant today. My daughter just picked up a CZ 75 pre B in pristine condition just because of your review of the CZ. Thanks and keep up the great work.
Congrats. Great video. It confirms my opinion. I've had the model 75 for 5 yrs and I love it. Feels, shoots and looks great. Very good accuracy and unbelievably no fails in all these years.
Nice Piece Nutn...I got a CZ-75 BD (Decocker) and the damn thing shoots every friggin thing I put in it. Dead Nuts Reliable ! The accuracy is not something you can describe to people until they shoot it. It is like it's friggin magnetic! My buddy who had not shot more than 3 times in his life was feeling cocky after shooting this baby. (then I gave him my SP101 2"bbl and cockiness subsided-haha). The CZ is a great pistol and will serve anyone well for many uses. I've been carrying for 30+ yrs so, weight is something I'm used to...it is a heavy pistol, but the confidence it inspires for those of us that can only have a couple of guns makes this a viable choice. I love my FNP9 ,SP101 and LCR but, it's funny how I go to this one a lot! Maybe nostalgia or old guy shit, I dunno. Bottom Line...I'd buy 2 more if I could and would have it on my hip always. Thanks. Love your vids.! Johnny NH
I would love to pick one up. Cold war version adds all kinds of cool. Great vid nut!!!
The 75b has been my favorite handgun since I was a kid. Just 6 more months and I can finally get me one :)
love all the classic fighting pistols (cz75, 1911, p226, etc.) thanks for doing the review nutn
I have been waiting for this table top review for ever! I really hope I get this for my first pistol!
There's a huge difference between a High Tech, polymer, Jerking all over the place, easy to carry Pistol, and an all steel, rick steady, 100% reliable, accurate, crisp trigger, hand crafted, indestructible, COMBAT PISTOL! But that only truly becomes apparent, with Combat Experience! You can not afford even one FTF, or FTE! The Additional weight quickly becomes secondary! The JM Browning philosophy has well stood the test of time! The Combat Side Arm must be able to be field stripped, and serviced, with no special tools, IN THE DARK! It must be 100% reliable! Indestructible, and accurate within 50% of the Kill Zone, from 50 feet! And be capable of follow up shots in less than one second, for an average marksman! That's why 90% of all semiautomatic pistols produced over the last 100 years have been an adaption of the two basic Browning Designs! The 1911, and the High Power! And the CZ-75 is no exception! Although converted for Double Action, it's basically a Browning High Power, with inverted rails, and a lower bore access! Which are all improvements! In a combat situation, either the 1911A1, or the CZ-75, will always get you back to Camp! The Beretta M9 has it's Quirks!

I've seen this video 3 times and I always get cringe at 28:00 mark thinking this gorgeous gun is getting scratched up on gravel lol.
You are bringing back memories for me. I had A CZ85B (ambi version)imported from Action Arms in PHL. had a great trigger it, ate the S&B 9mm all day long after a little throat polishing. I sold it due to the weight.
Beeing a Czech I am sick of the red star, sickle and hammer and the azbuka markings on our CZ. I don't really get why guys in the CZ did it, but I feel kind of offended by that. Hate commies. Anywas, very nice rewiew Nutnfancy! Thanks!

Kryštof David Agreed. I will never buy it because of that sickle and hammer.
Amazing accuracy thanks to that inverted rail, first used by the Sig P210. CZ's incorporated excellent ideas from the best guns of the time like the Browning Hi Power and Sig P210; result an outstanding gun that is still very relevant today. Love it.
Killer tunes at the intro, Nutn. Groovy and utterly kickass
Yay! I needed that gold star to make my day complete~ :) Thanks!
Love, love, love my CZ's. The three I've owned have been rock solid, totally reliable and very accurate. Just picked up the CZ 75D PCR, which is the compact, decocker model with a lightweight alloy frame. Much more manageable as a carry gun, although still pushing the limits of carry gun size for me.
Wow, Nutnfancy, FINALLY the CZ75 gets it's due. My CZ75, 1992, used by Ostrava PD, Czech republic--best gun I've ever owned. Accuracy out the wazoo!
Dope intro! My dad said it reminds him of the good ol days
Have not even watched yet but always love the review vids period. Better than anything on tv for me bro!
I purchased a CZ-75 B for my wife last year for valentines day. She loves it and shoots it well, the heft of the all steel construction has something to do with that I think. I really enjoyed the video.
Very excited to see a cz review. I carry a P-01 daily and have an Sp-01 as my go to war gun. Both are utterly realiable, and couldn't be more highly recommended.
this is my "glove box" gun. very nice trigger from the factory. absolutely love mine and the price was nice too at 399.
Doesn't get any better than a CZ. I love my 75 BD, but the PCR is my favorite.

***** I love my SP-01 (no problems yet) but would like to have a PCR.
Can't say enough about my 75B. I don't have any of the FTF problem Nutnfancy was having though. It's been perfect out of the box. I installed a trigger kit from Cajun Gun Works and it completely transformed the trigger. It's by far the most accurate pistol I own and a pleasure to shoot.
I'm not really a fan of putting russian markings on our (Czech) weapons, but yeah...I'm glad You like 75B.

This gun brought back memories of when many years ago while on vacation in Mexico my grandfather taught me to shoot with a gun that had a Hammer and sickle on it too. I was way to young to remember what kind of gun it was.
CZ75B was my first handgun and it will always be the standard that i judge other pistols. Gotta love the meat of it really soaks up the recoil, they have the kadet kit also, very accurate 22lr. Don't forget Rally Vincent from the manga Gunsmith Cats, carries a CZ75.
I have a SP-01 and i can't say enough good things about it. Reliable, accurate and just about every damn thing Nutn said. It is a little heavy, and i've never found a holster for it that really thrills me. But still, phenomenal weapon!
Ah, yes. I've been waiting for this one. Worth it; a great review.
Nutn, I have the Springfield P9 version of this gun and it ROCKS!! I used for the first time last year in competition and, as you said, it is soooo accurate. The trigger is so smooth and the gun just seems to fall back into place for follow up shots. I used to shoot 1911, but I am using the P9 more often now. Very nice weapon. Great review and thanks for all the other reviews. Great Job!
I love CZs...and yours is the coolest I have ever seen. Beautiful pistol...I am jealous.
I love CZ. Well made and accurate. I have a CZ P06 for my carry pistol.
Nice vid! Thanks for the trip down memory lane. My CZ-75's S/N is A4XXX. They were sold in Germany during the '80s as "Bruener" (Brno) pistols. AHH! The old days: $220 "in my hands". You had to be in the right place at the right time. The finish eventually chipped here and there, so I stripped, polished and blued the thing, adding adjustable sights and carefully honing critical action surfaces. It is, still, extremely accurate. I shoot it once per year, just to feel REALLY good!
I think the 75B you looked at initially in the catalog is the .40 version with full length rails. The 75B 9mm does not have the full length rails and is similar to your CCCP model.
Brings back memories of my modded 2nd gen CZ75 daily carry gun
nice video, this is one I've been waiting for
Keep 'em coming buddy. We love' em.
the sight of a cz 75 alone makes me harder than titanium
I have been waiting for this vid for a while. Thanks Nutn.
lovin the tunes on this one for a older gent nutn plays some great music
Dang it Nutn. Gotta start saving now. Thanks alot
Great review, CZ75 looks like a great pistol.
The CZ has been on my "short list" for years! :P
Front end reminds me of a 1911. Grip looks comfortable. Nice video!
Thanks for the vid! I added a titanium recoil rod to my CZ 40P, call me paranoid about polymer. Excellent review by the way!
Loving the CZ lineage talk.. (Owner of a Late Eighties Pre-B) Good Stuff Nut.. Seeya Dude
Ok you are going to think I'm nuts CZ75 B is my first gun I ever own ..... I love this gun . New what I wanted for my first gun Golck 19 or 17 went to the gun shop was shooting both glocks the guy in the next lane , said he just got the 75 BD and I should try he loaded ten round 25 yards in real . Can not make it up shot dead on every time . I was sold feel , recoil , you name . Out standing. ......
I used to have a 75B and now own a 1992 Pre B model which I prefer due to the nicer trigger and also like the looks of the spur hammer and rounded trigger guard.
I put 2k rds thru my CZ. No failures. No need for polymer hammer or tapping. When you line up slide. Use mag base n PRESS the slide stop out. Spring is 16lbs on mine standard. 14 sounds out of spec. 18/20lbs perfect for +p ammo. Illuminated sights only good first few months then stop glowing. Thats the ONLY weakness i could find. Weight, lighter than my beretta 92FS and has less recoil, also slimmer. Great review as always. My opinion. CZ pistols best bang for buck ON THE PLANET!!! my fave..
I have a shadow and love it. I use it in IPSC and it is reliable and accurate. Great review.
hey nutn i love the music and how u have kept tht cz in such great condition. it looked brand new to me. i also just bought a glock 17gen4 fde today thanks to ur review a few months ago. wish it was more of a magpul color but it still rocks.
This is like a loveletter to Gunsmith Cats fans
If you love that gun, you'll LOVE the CZ75 SP01 Shadow Custom. Unbelievable!
Almost 1000 rounds with my CZ 85B. No trigger job. Shooting free standing, two hands, no support: 0.5" at 7 yards, 2.25" at 10 yards, 3.5" at 15 yards, 5.5" at 25 yards. I run it a bit wet with CLP. No issues. It is just amazing. For the range I find UMC to work a little better than WWB.
Great job as always :)
Dude, the "wife listening at the doorway" wondering why I'm watching another video was dead on! :)
Seems like a project gun. Replacing springs, trigger job, polishing feed ramp. Thanks for the honest review.
Love my CZ/VZ-82, hammer forged/chrome lined barrel, all steel construction, 12+1 9mm Makarov capacity, now THAT would have been an upgrade to the USSR's 8+1 Makarov PM, which is actually a nice CHL gun, lil heavy, but real slim! And SUCH A SWEET TRIGGER!! Love Cold War firearms!!!
digging the opening music !!
I'm so easy for anything CZ. Love my CZ 75 pre-B, more than 20 years now. Better now than the day I got it. Or maybe I'm just better. Awesome is everywhere. I am it. Words.
Enjoyed your review. My first pistol was a CZ-P-01. Thousands of rounds thru it,never failed. Also have a 75D, a 75c (yes, I love the form factor) , SP-01 Target, and a CZ-83! They all feel the same in my hand and are by far, the most accurate 9mm guns I have ever fired. Nutn, do a review of the CZ-82 and you may be in love!

nutnfancy If you're looking for a CZ with a rail check out the EAA Witness, very well made, on par if not better than CZ. Made by Tanfoglio in Italy. Magazines are interchangeable between the two, slide doesn't lock open sometimes on the last shot using CZ mags, but that's the only issue. Very reliable weapon, they offer some competition level guns and hunter models too.

Great vid and soundtrack! I love the CZ-75B. I picked up one in satin nickel finish in the summer of 2008. Second gun I ever bought. Has some of the same problems you listed, but they seem to have gone away with use. Like yours mine is also a range gun.
My 1992 CZ75--never fail.
awsome review. im definatley waiting for a px4 storm review. i think its an underrated handgun
Been waiting for this review since the preview months ago! Glad I am not the only one who thinks this gun is ridiculously accurate. Got my cold war commemorative CZ75 as my first hand gun 2 yrs ago and have yet to buy/shoot another gun I can shoot anywhere near as good!(maybe XD-M 45)
A historical note: this is actually an improved version of Browning Hi-Power.
A friend of mine just got a model B and man he let me shoot it a couple of times and man its a SWEET pistol i might need to pick one up
ok nutn is a real pistol aficionado, oh yeah baby CZ 75 people that really know guns love the CZ. I have a CZ 75 the trigger was done by matt mink a noted CZ 75 shooter and gunsmith. my gun shoots great and has never ever, did I say never failed to feed and shoot anything I have tried in it. CZ 75 a gun that every serious pistol shooter should have at least one of.
Just remember CZs like grease, not oil, on slide rails and they'll never let you down, love mine :)
The owner of our forum has one of those. His has the red aluminum grips and flared mag well. Also has a threaded barrel. Shoots awesome with the suppressor.
Loved the intro music. I put my feet up and smoked a cigarette :)
Great info!
I like the music. Nice change of pace.
good clear straight forward
great video nutn
I hope 1 or 2 of this commemorative model "CZ B 75 Red Dawn" will find its way to the Philippines. I like the gun-power and reliability.
Oh wifey, please get this for me as a Christmas gift
One of the coolest CZ I have ever seen. The red star is a little cheesy. I think a star imprinted in the rubber handle with no coloration would have been way cooler.

John Wallace Ya might like BCM's 1911 then, hahaha.
I have this ColdWar Edition. I love it
The .40 and 75 SA both share the full length rail on the slide. All CZ .40's also have ambi safeties except for the RAMI model. The 75B .40 is a DAMN good gun. Accurate, reliable, and the weight of the gun really helps soak up recoil. I have a 75B .40, a .40 Compact, and a 9mm 75B Duo Tone. I also have a conversion barrel for the Compact in 9mm from EFK FIredragon.
Frickin' cool, its all in Cyrillic!
Was at the gun show in Chantilly VA this weekend and saw 4 of these there. Asking price around $600 dollars
Great review..
Ive got a CZ 85 made in 1992 in Czechoslovakia it is a "transitional" model as it has some B features and has some pre B characteristics. it does not have a full length rail it does have the the anti glare striations and a squared off trigger guard. It also has a spurred hammer not the ring hammer. I bought it "used" from a relative it was still in the original box with the grease paper mummified around it, it was all crunchy and dried. so I bought a brand new 20 year old pistol I love it
CZ beautiful excellent gun!
