    I’d just get a refund and put the money toward a used 557, the 600’s biggest selling point is now gone and what’s left is a rifle that is FAR less impressive than the rifles it was intended to replace. Incredibly stupid and shortsighted decisions coming out of CZ lately.

    This is why I usually try and wait about a year after something new is released. Anything man made is prone to failure so I like giving things a chance to see if they’re gonna sink or swim. Hopefully CZ corrects this quickly cause I was really looking forward to trying one out

    It's interesting. They can easily fix this but the big thing is that it will no longer be a user swappable barrel... which was the big selling point.

    The issue wasn't with CZ or the design. The issue was with end users who failed to read/follow directions and properly install the swappable barrels. As usual, a handful of assholes ruin it for everybody.

    I'm sorry but if you are buying the rifle knowing it's a switch barrel then you will need to know to check those screws. I do think it's weird they didn't go with a threaded barrel design and a simple set screw and call it a day. I love the design and was hoping to pick one up for some testing. Personally I think some loc tite on the set screws torqued to spec and you will be golden.

    The 527 was by far the most popular centerfire they made. The 550 was ok, but never held a candle to the 527 popularity wise. At shows I see 527s bringing over 1k routinely now. 550s tend to bring around 7-800 at best (Exception being the Kevlar "varmint".)

    I would not send this gun in if I had one. Whoever hasn’t heard of CZ must be living under a rock. Didn’t they just acquired Colt and partnering with Dan Wesson(DWX). The CZ 75 is the most ergonomic pistol I’ve ever held. If you make enough of anything you will make a few mistakes.

    @@shawnsnow6413 if you buy the rifle and you’re never gonna make any changes to it, it’s one of the better values. However, if you plan on making any modifications, such as putting it into a chassis, swapping the trigger, or you want a different scope Pace, you are SOL. You have an integrated scope base, so you cannot put in a 30 or 40 MOA rail, the magazines are horrendous, and I had the plastic base plate fall off numerous times, and the trigger while it is a decent single stage trigger I prefer two stage triggers.

    I really do believe it is an issue with the quick change system.... but perhaps the "screws being loose" is just an excuse to stop offering a "quick change" system as part of it. Who knows, I am sure more details will come out. I am going to try and keep an eye out on the torque on the barrel screws as we put some rounds downrange. A friend apparently has more info, but so far has to stay mum on it.

    Well Fuddle Cakes, I wish a I had gotten one of the first rifles with the swappable barrels. Being a grown up, I think I can handle keeping things together. Could have changed barrels very easily......Oh well.... Now, how are they 'Fixing" these rifles? Are they just tig welding in place the bolts or what?

  • @SlavGuns

    @SlavGuns

    Жыл бұрын

    Yep.... Unfortunately even if you have an un-neutered rifle, no one else is going to make a replacement barrel, especially since this is a different design... the lugs are built into the barrel, not the receiver. I have not seen a neutured rifle yet but my understanding is they use a permanent locktite like compound on the screws.

  • @azamatrq7977
    @azamatrq79772 жыл бұрын

    Great video!!! Just in time I thought to buy a CZ 600. Is this a problem due to loose screws? if so, can they be installed on a thread lock and the problem will go away or is the problem more?

  • @SlavGuns

    @SlavGuns

    2 жыл бұрын

    Apparently, that is what I believe it is and what they suggested. Will thread lock solve it? Probably. I believe they are using something a bit stronger/more permanent. Keep in mind, with this "recall" they are also removing a BIG reason to consider the CZ600, user swappable caliber changes. Going forward, the caliber changes can only be done by CZ or authorized CZ center.

  • @125saito
    @125saito Жыл бұрын

    I think this video should at least mention the fact that the receiver is made of aluminum. This is problematic at best. Coupled with the clamping style design just seems to be a recipe for trouble.

  • @SlavGuns

    @SlavGuns

    Жыл бұрын

    thanks. So this video is focused on the recall. I have two other videos where we discuss the aluminum receiver including the full review. I purchased an Alpha in 6.5 PRC. The other models actually use a steel receiver. Realistically though, i don't believe the aluminum receiver will be a big issue as the strength is still in the barrel, especially since the lugs for the bolt are in the actual barrel, and not on the receiver. The main issue I see with aluminum receiver models, cannot replace the Pic rail to 30 or 40 MOA.

    Just about any other barrel solution would have been better. Unfortunately, like many European companies that have come stateside, their “innovations” have been poorly executed gimmicks that didn’t solve a real problem. Recalls then follow. Almost all barrels are user interchangeable with about $150 in tools. If you are going to invest in changing barrels, this really is trivial. Not to mention that 99% of people that buy a “switch barrel rifle” never actually use the feature… Even ARs… Yup, people buy separate receivers (or rifles), not barrels, when they want another cartridge. CZ quality is good, and that is not the problem here. It is just a gimmicky feature that the majority of customers will neither use, nor maintain correctly.

  • @SlavGuns

They definitely have history however Ruger, Taurus, Glock, and others produce A LOT more firearms on an annual basis. This recall is also for rifles worldwide, not just in the United States. CZ has brought out many great products but definitely prone to issues as well. Keep in mind, CZ replaced all of their existing centerfire models with this, the CZ 600, precisely because their old rifles were no longer getting traction.
