I mean, any musician (not only drummers - I am a bass player) who grew up listening to Human and Cynic (his other stuff as well like the first Gordian Knot album) know that it was a whole different ball game. I know a lot of people that mention Gene Hoglan as THE greatest drummer in Death, but for me it was always Reinert. I know, this is no competition. But... Anyway, true giant, a musical genius.

Dynamo 1994 is still the concert that had the most impact of everything I have seen live since.

I'll say this - Reinert and Malone were the best rhythm section ever. I cannot fathom the amount of talent and knowledge they possessed. It seems so unbelievable that both of them are not with us anymore. It just can't be

47:53 Seeing all of them together, looking for each other, sharing this frecuency of feeling and being part of one living moment, truly breaks my heart thinking about this was one of the last times that they were together as a band mates... they really inspires me to grow in music. I still cannot belive this, great musicians is in heaven, hope, Death, after Cynic... Sean Reinert, my favourite drummer....

I saw them live with Sean in Madrid with my band...what a great musicians, awesome energy. Before them where playing other prog metal bands but when Cynic started, the whole atmosphere changed, they begun with a pray, all of them on their knee, the stage was cleaned, with no amps, only with their fractal fx, in ear, Sean had a methacrylate (transparent plastic for the acoustics, isolate the drum kit). Great memories...unique Band! Greetings from Santiago de Chile

I would pay thousands of dollars to see them live one last time...

Rest In Peace ean Reinert. He was a genius. We lost a legend.

I truly felt how deep in the zone Malone was at Lion´s Roar, he became connected to his instrument.

Malone's playing here is 100% some of the best in music, ever. Wow.

Had I become Cynic's fan only a few months earlier, I would definitely have seen them there in Tokyo or Osaka where this video was recorded. Missing that opportunity will be one of the most regrettable things in my life. Rest in peace, Sean Reinert and Sean Malone. I will always remember the sounds you created.

me too. i became their huge fan just weeks after they had their only gig in Belgrade (Euro tour for Traced in Air).

its simply unbelievable how come this set of musicians dont have the deserved magnitude of recognition. in 100 years these songs will be actual and timeless, not to mention the artistic and technical level displayed. I had the privilege of seeing them live. one of a kind band

Goddamn that's a powerful bass tone from Sean Malone and the beats and fills from Sean Reinert just makes it all sound so perfect😮 Flawless even. I hope they're both resting in power and jamming it up somewhere in the spirit world💟

Imagine being in a musical school and you have Sean Malone as teacher.

“The lion’s roar” is especially poignant here. They all seem to be enjoying it so much. RIP to the best Seans in the business, may their beautiful music live on forever.

I learned the whole song on bass recently. The whole thing is magical, but yes that outro is just gorgeous

None has topped these guys. Thing is that despite the complexity and difficulty of their chops they DO NOT OVERPLAY. It's a very natural fluid expression that serves feeling. I've been to a small gig of Cynic (was a luxury) mostly filled with musicians in audience, all jaw dropped and you can try fixed on the double pedal and hat, the fretless, the crazy legatto... but in the end you get drowned by the beautiful music, which I might add was like a tornado of love and hate, sadness and joy, peace and war... all mixed together in such a natural way. What an amazing experience.

A beautiful sound of an amazing band performing incredibly live note for note, R.i.P the Legend that Sean Malony was and always will be....my heart go to his all his family amd friend and fans, what a great musician and a great band they truly are....

Great live band! I saw them as support for Dream Theater and it was a blast. Far better than Dream Theater that evening.

I get it...you want it to be "really" live....but as a life long Cynic fan...I am truly grateful to have visuals to go with the incredible songs. You can see the chord changes and solos...Sean R being a fugging Maestro....Sean M showing why he is the most unique bass player I have ever seen. I too have seen this band when they toured with Cannibal Corpse back in the day and 3 times with Robin and Tymon and ALL of those live shows were amazing. There are many live shows from the Traced in Air tour on youtube, but I LOVE that this one features the original core. Thank you Pudding Broadcast for sharing. I loved every minute.

I agree with everything you said...I wish I had seen them with the original lineup, but I got to see them w/ Tymon and Robin three times. And the vocals on Integral Birth are unlistenable, his in ears must have been off or something :|

@@ukman9698 The Integral vocals weren't bad, they were just the only ones that were actually live. Everything else is clearly miming to the studio vocals.

Sean Reinert playing is amazing, love the mix of power and technical jazz elements.

Life sometimes is really ruthless. These two guys were master in their work, even so.. so sad they left too soon.

I don't think there has ever been a duo so locked in with each other in all of the history of music, as Sean and Sean were with each other. It's a mind blowing thing to witness. Neither of them makes a single move without the other.

Is this how it feels to grow old? All your musical gods die one by one?

rip Sean and Sean. You'll never really die while I live and remember, and listen to these tunes. The most intense and important music ever to me.

The backing track is the hell too loud. But there is Sean Malone, who cares.

At first when I heard that in the acoustic version of integral birth the vocals are different from original I was dissapointed, but the way Masvidal had sing it has its own way, and it really gave me a chill :D Great gig

I just realized Paul Masvidal is Donnie Darko. He escaped the alternate universe in 1988 and grew up to become a musical prodigy.

I saw Cynic play in Belfast during their Traced In Air tour. they booked a small venue, the Limelight, which has a maximum capacity of 750 people. me and my buddy arrived to find the venue completely EMPTY save for a handful of fans. when Cynic took the stage, there couldn't have been more than 30 people in the audience. I felt really bad for the band... but it was awesome to hear them play in such an intimate setting. despite the extremely sparse crowd, they gave it their all 100% and played the full 2 hour set. really humble, down-to-earth guys and awesome talent
