At the age of 20, Christoph Strasser took part in a 24-hour race wearing T-shirt, running shorts, baseball cap and using the bike of his grandpa. This anecdote could be the beginning of a good book-the beauty of it is, it really happened that way. Pictures prove it. Since that day 20 years ago, he has been addicted to cycling with all his enthusiasm and devotion, and against all the skeptical opinions of those around him, he realized his dream of becoming a professional cyclist.
Through the "Race Across The Alps" and the "Race Across Slovenia" he came to the "RAAM", the "Race Across America". With those successes he describes himself now as an extreme cyclist. In 9 participations he 6 times crossed finish line first and since then he leads the record lists of the most important bike marathon in the world. Along the way, he became fascinated by time trials, and in 2021 he once again took the record for the furthest distance in 24hrs, with a record of 1026 km. Between races he travels, gives presentations, and runs the popular ultracycling podcast "SITZFLEISCH" together with Florian Kraschitzer.
Now Christoph is always looking for new challenges and wanted to pursue a goal that has been on his mind for a while: Participating in an unsupported bike race, and thus establishing himself as a multi-discipline athlete. For this he has not chosen just any race, but the prestigious "Transcontinental Race". Check out how we talk to Christoph about past, present and future and follow him during his preparations.
