Cycling Alone Across the United States
In 2023, I rode my bike across the United States! I hope you enjoy it!

If you feel as though you have seen some of this footage before, it's because you have! This is an extended-cut version of my "Crossing the Continent" film that I posted last year. I repurposed the footage to help promote my fundraiser for wilderness conservation! (Info in the description). Thanks for watching!

I love hiw you put that, "I miss being uncomfortable", thank you, needed to hear that for my life.
“I did it because I wanted to” too. Then I did I again, 3 more times. What a great experience to see the US at 10 mph on a bike. Great video, thanks for sharing.

Thank you for that! If it means anything, I think it's pretty awesome that you're so young and looking to do something that most others wouldn't even dream of. I look forward to hearing stories of your adventure!

Do some bikepacking this Summer and have some adventures to learn all the things that can and will go wrong that must be overcome with a positive attitude. I have discovered "rolling meditation" you may discover another Zen, but it will find you. Carry on and have your dream journey. This is just the beginning.

@patagonico197 Never mind what other people think, they can lead their lives as boring as they want, you just go for it! If ever you have any doubts or worries about anything that you'd like to do, JUST DO IT, then you'll find out whether it was worth worrying about! It mostly always isn't 😁 Once you've completed your first adventure, you'll wonder just what it was that you were worried about! Life is too short to wait for the 'perfect' moment. All the best 👍
Great edit. Appreciate you sharing. Look forward to doing myself one day
Thanks for sharing your experience. Amazing journey. Recently I had the opportunity to ride a 300 plus ride in Florida and it brought back memories when I saw your expression when you reached the Pacific Ocean. Best wishes on your upcoming journeys
Hope the guy that finds that bike takes care of it. The stories it would tell.❤
"if you wanna know what I'm feeling just go do it for yourself" great advice. Loved this video!!

Great ride! Hopefully this winter I'll do that ride.
You are awesome. Thanks for this. Great way to start the day!
I take my hat off to you.
Enjoyed following your progress!
These videos are great if they inspire you, creating the crtical nudge, tipping point for you get your dream going... However, to get the fullest experience, just ride. Dont film, communicate, or approach your first journey unless your certain youre going to do it again. Never miss the first opportunity to be fully present for the entire ride. (This comment was inspired hy meeting Doug Green,, a man I met who was on one of his many rides across the USA and took the time to talk to a total stranger, me. Doug doesnt bring a cell phone, use a GPS, etc. he uses the stars and the sun for directions. Told me, "nah, i stay outside, a hotel? Heck thats a set of tires"... if youre reading this Doug, thank you.
Congratulations 👏 hope your trip goes well man keep things you need in your pack and you'll be fine

Good Schwalbe Marathon PLUS or PLUS TOUR tires are required, then add some slime for complete puncture resistance. Or the other more heavy option are the Tannis inserts..
And yes…I’ll watch that video too! Excellent!

I had to laugh when I saw at the end that you rode the whole thing on a Poseidon. I took mine on a 360 mile tour on the Erie Canal Trail but I couldn't imagine riding it across the entire country. I have built up what I hope to be a better bike for my planned ride across the country. Thanks so much for sharing your. Oh, and leaving the bike behind for whoever finds it was a really great touch.

Thanks for the comment Jeff! The Poseidon is a good bike for what it's made for. It's not made for touring! I learned that the hard way! Smooth roads and blue skies to you!
Nice one buddy what an amazing journey
Great video and great editing. Amazing journey. The 1000 miles of head wind would have been very tough for us to push through. We rode from Oregon to NYC in 2022 and absolutely know the feeling you had when you reached the Pacific. Our trip was called The Apollo Mission and we posted 43 episodes of the journey. Your summary video is well done. Nice job. Enjoy the Ride

Thank you! Most of the footage was shot on an iPhone 12 believe it or not. A few were taken with my Sony a6400. Everything was backed up to my hard drive during my trip, and I edited it at home afterwards!
I have been looking at Poseidon gravel bikes but since hearing about all your mechanical issues, I may need to rethink my decision.

They are excellent bikes for the cost and you likely would love it if you are just gravel riding. I just wouldn't recommend bike touring with 60 lbs of gear attached to it without a few upgrades first!

@@alchemylab-media thanks. That’s the issue. If I have to do upgrades for touring, i’m better off going to Trek or Specialized.
Im leaving in a few days from NH to FL on US Bike route 1.......can you suggest a web site for an interactive map?
@alchemylab-media
Ай бұрын
Hi Matt, sounds like quite the adventure! I used an app called "Bicycle Route Navigator". On the app, you can pay for and download interactive maps that should get you to where you're going! You can use it for offline navigation, and it has loads of details about what to expect for each leg of your trip including camp sites and lodging, resupply points, road conditions, etc. Hope this was helpful! Smooth roads and blue skies to you!
I think you need to switch to a 650b tire?
@alchemylab-media

That would have been wise 😜
Why would you leave such a bike behind??? You could have simply craigslist/FB marketplace it the same day likely. Cool ending shot and brave to leave it just for someone.

Who did God/Jesus bump into in the desert? That is who is causing a lot of unnecessary trials and problems for humanity.
Did you use the tire inserts ? I do and did not had flat yet. Inold days I used as insert old worn tire with sides cut off. And again no flats at all. I was doing 500miles in 3 days . No flats. 👍👍👍
