Do u think 12 inch rim (20.5 inch Outside Diameter) trailer wheels would be ok for a cycle kart? there cheeper, a lot easer to get, and I think they would look just as good.
@171apples17111 жыл бұрын
I'd recommend upgrading to a larger engine. Like a motorcycle twin motor. Kawasaki KZ750 twin motors have lots of torque and the transmission is basically part of the motor so all you have to do it run your chain to the axle. They are small, somewhat lightweight (im 17 and can lift one without to much issue), and fast little engines. Those tires and wheels you have on there can handle the torque coming from the motor as well. How awesome would it be to keep up with traffic on the interstate?

The kart looks great! I noticed your steering rod appeared pretty close to the chassis, it made me wonder if you had any issues with the steering rod hitting the bottom of the chassis when your front wheels hit bumps.
@StephenCameron
3 жыл бұрын
Not that I recall. The front end is pretty light and the springs are pretty stiff, despite being buggy seat springs, and I never really drove it on rough terrain much either. Could be a problem on rougher terrain at speed, I suppose, but it also might not be a problem in that case, I really don't know. On smooth-ish terrain, it wasn't a problem.

Are you using front or rear wheel assembly?
@StephenCameron
9 жыл бұрын
lockhart1976 The wheels are all front wheels, if that's what you're asking. Functionally, either rear or front wheels will work. Front wheels look a little better. Arguably, rear wheels might work better since they have a flat face for the washers and bolt heads to mate against. I'm not sure what you mean by "assembly", as the only part of the CT90 wheel that is used is the wheel itself, all the original bearings, hub, etc from the motorcycle wheel aren't used. Hope that answers your question.

They would not work remotely well enough and would look FAR too weeny when completed. A 12" wheel would almost certainly collapse from side load pressuress and you will roll your vehicle about 85% more often too. The 17" wheel is one of the very specifics needed for true cyclekarts.
@StephenCameron11 жыл бұрын
For what purpose? It doesn't need to be any faster. And you'd probably shear the wheels off. Engine size was chosen deliberately. There are some guidelines on how this particular kind of kart is meant to be built. Google "cyclekart".
