This is arguably Van Damme’s most underrated film, he was at his peak and this was a different style totally vs Fender and his pirates. Vince Klyn was a stud in this film and looked like a badass.

I'd really love to give props to the director of this movie. His camera work composition and non-traditional shots like the elevator shaft added so much to this movie. And the choice of very low dialog story telling. This movie is a low budget masterpiece.

This is easily one of the most gritty, well shot movies I have ever seen, I remember seeing this when i was 9 yrs old back in '91 and being so scared of this movie. Easily one of the top 10 martial art movies if not top 5.

I found out last night that this basically the “van damme “ version lmao they said when he got the directors cut (OG movie) script he wasntttttt having it at alllll 😂😂😂😂🤦🏽‍♂️ changed the music and cut the movie short by 9 almost ten mins 😂😂😂😂 this was only 89 I bet van damme was helllllll to work with allll thru the 90s lmao 😂😂😂 the original Version is called “slingers” I’m Dying to find it and see it lol 😂

This movie was way ahead of its time. The music, realism- total awesomeness.

Fender was one of the toughest villains Van Damme ever faced imo along with Tong Po, Chong Li and Attila

This was considered horror back in 1990 when I was 13 lol. One of the best films at the time, and Van Damme was the first one to incorporate Sci-fi and karate.

Van damme is one of the best action stars hands down

One of my top 10 movies of all time. Van Dam acting. Facial expressions like a modern day William Shatner with kick ass abilities... Fender best bad guy ever......where did they get this guy!!! ...Vince Klyn. Really pulled it off here......lol. Super underrated movie

Mr. Klyn was also in Point Break. The leader of the outlaw surfers that stole Johnny Utah's lunch money.

Nothing like '80s movies! Best film era of all time. Stallone, Arnold and JCVD were kings. Cannon films ruled and based on this short piece, we can see why!

Director Albert Pyun best film. A Classic from start to finish ! Saw it many times in theater. Way ahead of its time !

I have a pretty unhealthy obsession with this movie. This is scarier than movies billed as thrillers and horror. The constant threats, the ominous music, the terrifying scenarios, this one, the sewer scene, but sleeping and being watched ughhhh. So good, the little dialogue and JCVD just kicking ass, perfect for him. Oh, and shout out to the wig in the flashbacks. This and Apolcalypto have the same consistent threat theme and I love it!!

This movie is always etched in my memory - being a massive JCVD fan as a kid my mum rented it out for me on my 8th birthday, Friday March 30 1990. Watched it 3 times before I had to return it the next day lol

I luv d background sound....it spiced up the movie.

This movie let alone it had perfect plot , actors , places , ambience , musics , etc.... mostly it had horror/dark atmosphere which make it perfect . Wish it was longer , at least 2 hours .

JCVD=Action Legend, 80s classic.

This film still holds up great, awesome characters, costumes, and soundtrack. The only bad thing I thought was the pacing was a little slow. Besides that, it was a great flick for its time, one of Van Damme's best roles even though he doesn't like it.

This movie was psycho, the fight scenes with the music were intense back in the day when this first came out. I loved this movie, the scene when he runs across the bridge to fight the other guy was awesome, I think there was another scene at the start of the movie. They just can't make movies like this these days, I guess because there are no Van Dammes.

I watched this movie for the first time when I was 8 years old in 1998. It is one of those masterpieces whose impact on me is still undervalued. The music, the scenes, the actors are extraordinary.

To me Fender was terrifying, and a lot of his crew appeared just as fearsome. The way they hunt and run into battle, hungry to kill, every one of them a skilled survivalist. They all met their match in Van Damme, but he had to take each of them out one at a time. I love this movie.
