Aside from the amazing effects, I liked how EdgeRunners used it as s storytelling mechanic, due to how it slows down time, and seemingly affected by David's mental state, it forces him to focus in and soak every traumatic experience he goes through, which might be another factor that accelerated his cyberpsychosis.

​@@umbrellaumthis effect name is literally "echo motion trail" or "ghost trail" and it's possible to do it in a live action, this is not about what's possible or not with CGI, but art direction honestly, and yeah, having the background monochromatic color (green in this case) and have the actor leaving ghost trails it's entirely possible in a flash show, I think it's even easier than the current CGI they use to be honest.

@@umbrellaum and not just edgerunners, on Chivalry of Failed Knights, the protragonist could do similar stuff by allocating the brain resource to view color and focusing it to another task- like if he needs to go for speed, he just render his vision to monochromatic so that he can focus on the body motor task. He has average stat but has superhuman body control that he always train since he was still a brat.

@@diogofelix8626 cap. Ghost trail would look ass in real time - unless the budget is really good. What most would expect at this point is the Quicksilver X-Men scenes or Flash movie scenes. The show is aware these exist lol, but not on their budget

Fun Fact: In the original Cyberpunk 2020 Sandevistan "Speedware" exists alongside Kerenzikov "Boostware", which is pretty much the same except for a few major differences. Kerenzikov operates slower than Sandevistan, but is always active, and cannot be turned off.

The moment where Adam activated his own Sandevistan was one of the biggest "Oh shit" moments when I first saw it. For a moment, you thought that maybe, just MAYBE that while David couldn't beat Adam he could at least escape from him. But then 4:10 happened and it's like "David's not going to survive this, is he?"

Best part is he never made a big deal out of it. For everyone the Sandy is a gamechanger but to Adam it's just a basic implant. Guy doesn't even use it unless his opponent does.

@@nothingtoseehere1221 since rudimentary means basic, and adam seems to be flexing on david, it can be interpreted in this way. adam's telling david that (in a funny interpretation) "come on bud, it is the simplest thing that everyone can get, don't you know that? Mine's just better than yours" And back to the main part, it's already in the video that adam's sandy is definitely faster than davids. You can see the moment adam activates his sandy, david's after images slow down while his goes faster, indicating adam has faster movement

That one scene where David did 3 Sandevistan routes at the same time while carrying Lucy gave me such goosebumps !

Tbh, it should be possible for a video game that actually exist where ai computer can also use the same ability as the player. I think there is actually a game where ai computer can also use bullet time but can't remember. but yeah, AS in game should have the same ability but CDPR should make it look like it's possible to counter it. Easy example like Malenia from Elden Ring using waterfowl dance on player, which is actually hard enough to dodge if you don't focus on the fight itself but still manageable.

i think the way speedware is for enemies in the game is that weird instant-dodge/dash you sometimes see melee enemies doing to get close to you or dodge shots

As an artist, these scenes absolutely floored me. The amount of detailed frames these shots must've taken in top of the fluid animation is INSANE. This show just blew me away on so many levels

I use a system ex mod so I can get to hack and use a sandevistan.

The part where adam smasher shoots him and he goes insane with the exo skeleton was the best part

I don’t know why but I think 3:41 is a very beautiful scene.

the sound effect it makes when it activates is sooo satisfying

That laugh from smasher at the end tells me he's heard that one a million times lol

I love the way it was revealed for Adam to have one too. The Sandevistan was the pinnacle of David's kit. The one implant he relied on, the key to him winning most fights. It's hyped up as an incredibly powerful and unstable piece of equipment that can cause even the most skilled to eventually break. And then Adam Smasher comes in and calls it "rudimentary." Basic. Simple. No different from optics or muscles.

For a moment David had become much MUCH faster than Adam could have expected, but after a while of using up that energy David had started to slow down to the point where Adam was able to finally activate his own Sandy and catch up. Or at least that’s what I’m suspecting as you can here the sound effects start slowing down just before Adam’s sandy kicks in

@@Mr.Scott86 fr, it was this deadly combination that allowed him so much chrome so early, I just wish he coulda survived, even as a construct. Would be dope if there was more than one construct in Cyberpunk and you could choose what aspects of Night City you want to encourage and what others you want destroyed, like Arasaka or Militech. A bit more loose and choose your own adventure.

At 3:22, when David says "I know how to fly just fine", just realized the way he brings his arms up to fire the launcher makes his after images look like wings. Could be a stretch, but looks like it to me lol

In the car chase scene where they steal that arasaka car, David used sandy multiple times, but we viewed it on Lucy's pov, to let her talk, but David was using it to spin the wheel with insane reflexes.

I think what caused david to go cyberphyscho is the fact he couldnt really control his sandy. The thing would activate on its own like when he watches maine and rebecca's brother die in slow mo. Not to mention david is addicted to using it. It was less david controlling it and it controlling david

I definitely think that David could more closely approach Adam's level of power if he had the time and experience to learn how to use his implants efficiently and understand how they would mesh together, in addition to finding out how to get mods for his cyberware that would help him stand up to Adam. Unfortunately, that was time he didn't have for a multitude of reasons. I think it ties in nicely with the theme of "don't burn yourself alive to keep others warm" that seems to show up in Edgerunners.

When I first watched edgerunners I had zero experience with 2077 so I thought David's sandevistan was entirely unique and was the only one of it's kind and then lost it when I found out it wasn't

I like the part when techy mitts died, as david was kicked by Maine his eyes had the effect of the Sandevistan. This may just be due to it being a cool effect but i like to think that it's related to the eye twitching In cyberpsychosis. And, that he started going psycho watching his friend die

The first scene is just me with crash or the malorian. Pre and post 2.0 you can’t beat the sandy pistol combo.
