🔺Long time no see. I've been of for a while, but now it's time again. This one is a bit special and has a different sound to what I normally doo. The 30 first sec or so, is "simulating" hearing the music from the car speakers, but rather quickly blends seamlessly into a bigger soundstage that envelopes the full stereo spectrum. Listen at a comfortable level for best experience bcause sometimes there are some louder sounds that slipped through my itterations. Sorry.. Best to you all. And the sense of petrichor. ‘Petrichor’ is the wonderful word that describes the wonderful scent of the air after a rain shower. It comes, like so many wonderful words do, from the ancient Greek: a combination of petros, the stones that form the surface of the Earth and ichor, the "ethereal essence" the Greeks believed flowed through the veins of their gods. When decomposed organic material is blown airborne from dry soil, it lands on dirt and rock where it's joined by minerals. And the whole mixture is cooked in this magical medley of molecules. Falling raindrops then send those chemicals airborne, right into your nostalgic nostrils. When it's not raining, though, that molecular mixture serves a different purpose: signaling plants to keep their roots from growing and their seeds from sprouting. No use wasting energy on all that, after all, when there's no water to be drunk. "Petrichor: it's for the plant that's tired of waiting … to germinate." So why does the world smell different to humans after it rains? Because of plants, basically.

My right kidney screams in protest as I wake up. I check the windows, cocking my revolver. No one there. As I lean back and uncock the revolver I also look over to the backseat. She's not there. She hasnt been for a year now. But I still look over to the back seats, hoping to see her there. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. My train of thought was broken when the radio crackled to life. "Bolman, are you there?" Steph's nagging voice crackled through the radio. I was tempted to not bother but I decided against it. Bringing the mic close to my face I spoke. "Here." "About fucking time. You have any idea how many times we've tried to contact you?! We thought that youd been hurt! Remember the last riot?" The dispatcher screamed, causing me to pull back, cleaning my ear with my free hand's pinky finger as I did. "Its been four days, and those assholes were drunk when they said it. Ya know how those Fiestavales are." I said as I looked around to make sure my wallet was still with me. Sure enough it was there. More than enough for breakfast. "They've held grudges before. Remember Ibn Farik? Speaking of drunks, I swear to God you better not have been drinking last night." The dispatcher said, as though she didn't drink like a fish. "Im fine, dispatch, is there anything you need me to do? Aside from the wellness check?" I asked. "Careful. Riot cop or not, you're still on thin fucking ice." She said before the line went out. Leaning back I pulled down the covers for the windows. Once more the decaying and broken column to the front left of my car came into view. I don't know whay causes the damage to expose the rebarb but I didn't care. As I stuck the keys into the lock I noticed the "landlord" watching. He wasn't even the owner. Just the guy placed in charge here by Gold Mountain Investment. He was round and held an arrogance about him, and didn't have the slightest ounce of an idea as to maintain a building. I don't know if he was put here as a favor to some big wig's kid to give him an easy job, or as a punishment for fucking up. Either way he waddled his way over. I made sure I stretched so he could see the revolver and some of the cans. Like that he'd remembered that I'd already paid for the parking space. To be honest I'd rather sleep in the rain than in there. Even through the windows I could smell the waste. Head still pounding from the hangover, I put the gear into reverse, pulled out, and then began driving to the market. If nothing else than for a cup of coffee. Maybe some ramen.
