It's also the name of a Greek God, a character in Battlestar Galactica, the city of Athens (and multiple cities around the world). It's quite a common name. And a fish too apparently.

Depends if you use a female specific derivative of a word which can used for either e.g. the word actor can be used for male or female but actress is female specific. The same applies to the word god.

Miku does have an english voice bank tho, even if it is pretty bad. This is the best english vocaloid ive heard but if you compare this english to say, IA's japanese, there is no contest that IA is better. Even so, im pretty impressed with this, it would be nice to see some covers with this. I just hate the look, if its gonna try to fit in with the rest of the vocaloids, it needs an japanese design

Impressive!! This Vocaloid sounds incredibly authentic and produces English speech with very little error! I may consider purchasing a copy should I get into serious music production.

Yes, I know about Luka and other Vocaloids. In the end, it just comes down to how well one is tuned. I noticed even Cyva isn't as clear when tuned by that other guy who did the demos. Unable to look up his name at the moment, but UshushuP or something like that? XD Also, to be honest, I've been out the Vocaloid scene for a few years now. I come in sometimes just for a glimpse at a few songs or new Vocaloids, but I don't stay for long.. I'd also appreciate if you didn't make assumptions about others so quickly, but that's a whole 'nother topic. Just about everytime I comment on KZread, I come to regret it. :'D (Sorry for the tl;dr, by the way. >.

I've been out of the whole Vocaloid loop for some years now, and man, I'm impressed with this voicebank. The English is REALLY good. I only looked at the subs for a few words, but the pronunciations aren't as garbled as with others before.

Listening to this for the umpteenth time (I just happen to really like this song... Can't wait until the full version comes out!), I just noticed how her voice has a youthful sound to it. Normally I wouldn't like it, but... It sounds good on her! I won't go around saying she's perfect or the best thing in existence, but I like CYBER DIVA a lot. Looking forward to hearing more from her!

Wow, this is actually one of the Engloids that I can mostly understand without subtitles! I'm actually very impressed.

I am afraid, that Cyva won't sell good, or at least not as good enough as she is. A lot of comments complain about the facts that she doesn't look like an anime character or that she isn't as audience related like Miku and the others, because half of her face is covered and she seems like a voice without any character or personality. I personally have nothing against her and totally love her voice but... I kind of miss the warm feeling, that other Vocaloids get. I mean like, for example there are millions of Miku fan arts and songs through the internet, where she is laughing, smiling, crying, or something else and it kind of binds me to this character, because it is way harder to relate to the producer, than to a Vocaloid. And it really makes me and everyone else happy, when we think of this Vocaloid, because we relate their singing, to a way of shouting out your message or emotions to the world.

Agreed. I find it really hard to relate to Cyber Diva as a work of fiction that you can enjoy like a anime character with their own abilities, but she's not a human either. It sounds robotic, and I don't get the fuzzy feeling I get from hearing Luka, Miku or AI singing. Manly because it feels like she's just there to simply be THERE, and it's unoriginal ( Ex. Gakupo's sword, YOHIOloud's friend CUBI and co, Oliver being connected to Frankenstein's monster and the crypton designs that somehow link the crew together wm.) I get that she's part of the VY series, but that does not necessarily make her to stand out. She doesn't feel original. The voice bank sounds good, to be honest, but that is not original or different, either. It's a awesome voice, but it's just bland. But she still isn't crappy, from what I can tell ^-^ Maybe she's really good? So yeah, I'm on your side, bud. I get where you are coming from.

The reason for this is simple: it's targeted at the US. Most people in the US (or any western country, for that matter) do not "characterize" everything like a good chunk of the target audience of the other, more popular Vocaloids (Japan) do. So when US users are going to use the software, we're going to be using it like a cool tool that makes neat sounds, and not care so much about the character. However, most people that will be buying Vocaloid software like Miku think different (a lot of them are apple fans! :D), but they buy and use the software more for the character than the voice itself. This is even evident in Crypton's (the company that makes Hatsune Miku among other Vocaloid products) name for its flagship line of software: *character* vocal series. You see, when your average Japanese vocaloid producer sees a new voice for the first time, he might think (exaggeration) "awwwwwww, cute!!" and buy it just for that reason. However, we think this way: cool! I could hook this up to a Launchpad and make some awesome effects! That is the reason Cyber Diva lacks on character.

Touko Yanashi That's true but still doesn't take away that the 'anime'-feel to a Vocaloid largely contributes to it's popularity. Don't forget that a good majority of the (english) Vocaloid fanbase love the Japanese pop culture. The past has proven that people prefer to create artwork for a voicebank that comes with an attractive and recognizable design.
