You are spot on! Love the way you cut straight scissors as a base. I haven’t been able to find anyone that knows how to really cut hair. They want to shape a style with texturizing sheers???

Wow! I have to pause @11:12 to comment. I just had an “a-ha” moment! One of the most frustrating things with getting my haircut is going home & washing & styling my hair the next day to discover a weird very defined & short chunk in the middle of the back of my head that didn’t appear to be there when I checked it at the salon. Hairdressers have the advantage of working straight out all around the client’s head and therefore can contort and “force” a style to lay how they want. But once I get home, it’s nearly impossible for me to do much styling with that area directly in back so my hair has to fall where it feels like. I wonder if this is the problem - hairdressers section it in some generic standard way rather than for *my* hair growth pattern on *my* head. It’s so aggravating, after months of growing out my length, to discover once again I have a chopped up section that looks really bad when I let it air dry straight or curl/style it myself. But how do I find a hairdresser who understands this??

@12:40 Exactly!! My hair is really straight and “stretches” a LOT when wet, so as it dries it pulls up a lot more than most hairdressers seem to expect. When I dry and curl it, it is much too short😢. And we all know how long a bad haircut takes to grow out. My current lady works from home and while she doesn’t attend any classes to stay up on new styles and techniques, she immediately told me in order to do the best she could to fix the mess, she would need to cut mine dry to get a sense of how it wants to lay. The problems we just can’t seem to figure out is the receding/thinning hair line at the front corners that is causing havoc with my natural part & bangs. I need height/lift on top to balance the shape of my face. Blending the bangs and the top to cover the receded areas and also give the lift is a huge challenge we have not figured out yet. I used to get perms to help but now that the processed color is all grown out, my hair won’t hold them more than a week or two. I know having the right styling products will help, but I can’t afford to keep experimenting with ones that end up not working. The one thing I love about my hair is (except for the receding/thinning hairline & a touch of thinning on top) it is very thick and for some reason I can’t see, I get compliments on the natural color Which I let grow out because I cannot afford to keep up on the touch up. I just had my 58th Birthday this month & I have five grandchildren. I’d love to have a hair style that works with my hair in all it’s current wonderful quirky glory. I don’t have to time to spend 2 hours washing, drying, curling, & styling it only to have it fall out & flat before I barely get out the door.

Less texturizing is needed on the side of the part, obviously there is less volume of hair on that side.
