True tho. I never had locks or box braids (cuz, ya know. Thin hair) but when I was little my mom would make me these little braids all over my head and it was the best thing ever when I took them out the week later

Don't worry all the hair that fell out is just dead hair that has been tied with the locs but all the hair u lost will regrow

Its knotty at the root because dirt, oil, dead skin cells and hair products creates a sticky mess around the top of the dread, it's literally hell to brush out but fairy liquid actually helps to break it down and make it easier to brush out✨

It's so cool that you couldn't see the blond while they were in the locks

Always detangle your hair prior to washing it after taking any protective style out, if you don’t detangle first and remove the majority of the shedded hairs, those shedded strands will tangle the rest of your hair. Also it’s better to detangle each braid separately.

floral capacity true. Finger tangle if you're ssk-prone and spritz lightly just with some water and or some added conditioner. It really depends on everyone's hair per se with *what* to use but yeah you definitely need to rid those tangles *before* so your loose hair can be free from all the fallout.

floral capacity your hair will not fall out if you detangle it dry, you can spray your hair with water if you prefer but you will still lose the same amount of hair, but you shouldn’t add shampoo if you haven’t tried to remove the shedded hairs.

floral capacity you dont comb it dry you finger detangle by section with a good leave in. I mix a conditioner with good slip, water, and oil to make my own leave in. Then after finger detaining with the leave in i wide tooth comb while its damp...then I wash. No breakage that way

Before I get any comments, yes I took them out this soon and it’s bc I wanted to 😊 Also, THIS IS NOT A TUTORIAL. This was just how I took them out. If I didn’t do it perfect, who cares 🤷🏽‍♀️ I also combed my hair out with my fingers off camera and didn’t want to brush my hair dry before shampoo bc I never brush dry. I honestly try to always do this but...the struggle is real. My arms hurt so bad while I do it and the fact that I have nerve problems in my hands doesn't help,my hand will just freeze up on me and I sometimes have to sit about half an hour before the pain subsides and I can move my hand again. It's not very different when j do it while my hair is wet but the struggle is a little less.

If you ever do this again, split your hair into 1-inch sections and gently comb the hair from ends to roots *before* washing your hair. I would pro-poo with something with excellent slip to do this. My hair texture is similar to yours and if I don't do this step I end up with a matted mess in the shower.

I remember losing a clump that big after a sew in that was braided a bit too tight. My hair had been so stressed out, and I had not lost that much hair in years. Very scary and frustrating, so I felt your pain when you were showing the huge ball of hair. It takes a lot of care and patience to grow our hair to be healthy and long like yours... so it sucks when that kind of things occurs.

When I took my box braids out I lost half my head of hair, on top of extreme tangling, my hair has never been so bad after braids. Do not leave in your braids too long ladies!!

Honestly your own hair is the REAL goddess locks girl!!

Just a tip, when taking out any box braids or locks after a long time, comb through it with a wide tooth comb. That will prevent less tangles and hair loss when washing it. I learned that from my hair dresser. Love watching your videos.

Hair sheds a 100 strands a day! I had my box braids in for almost 2 months and it was CRAZY how much hair shed. But I loved the look, and your curls too of course!

Darling, your itching and have sores because you're allergic to the coating of the hair. You need to pre-soak your hair in warm soapy water with apple cider vinegar before new install. Brush the tangles out BEFORE you wash! You shed at the roots of your hair. Therefore, the tangles are concentrated at the top. I've left my faux locs for in for three months before. Three weeks is a minimum of time before taking them out. otherwise it would be a waste of money.

Mouna Igouzoul it protects the ends of your hair from breaking off while the root grows. Also many people think they loose hair but you dont all that hair at the end is just shedding. Were SUPPOSED to shed up to 200 hair strands on average a day do when you have a protective style in that prevents that from happening for a month or longer all that hair times 30 is going to come out when its finally free but as long as you have no bald spots or thinning you more than likely retained way more length and density than you would have without the protective style

I find that when you take out protective styles like that, it’s best to get rid of most of the shed hair before you shampoo to reduce the amount of tangles & hair you lose in the washing process. It takes a little more time, but cuts down the amount of time you spend detangling in the shower. You did an excellent job though! Your hair looks great! 👍🏽😀

They are acttally free but the app cost 99 cents. Not bad. I don’t want it tho. I tried but I got SO frustrated with what hairstyle to do so I deleted it. It’s called.... pls respond to me so I know you know I’m here lol then I’ll tell you haha

Tips for the future (and anyone considering protective styling) -When you taking out your protective style, spritz with water, apply some leave in/oil and comb the section you've removed. Use a fine tooth comb to remove some of the build up at the root. It'll help with detangling later on. -I find it useful to apply oil to my hair and scalp and let it sit for a bit before washing, it softens your hair and puts some moisture back into it before using shampoo -Please shampoo and not co-wash, your scalp will thank you! You can use a gentle shampoo if your scalp is sensitive -DEFINITELY deep condition, your hair will be dryer than usual! -Style your hair into something low maintenance to give it a break before putting another high maintenance or protective style
