In Trinidad, the heart is curried with coconut milk and is an uncommon delicacy in rural areas, especially at religious functions. However we use the palmiste palm, not the coconut. The meat or jelly on the inside of the green nut he was shaping can also be curried.

Hearts of palm is amazing cooked in Indian spices. BTW people use paper, wood, wooden furniture without a single thought. But it looks like some people are offended by eating these trees. I guess they feel superior in their concrete glass houses with metal furniture and no paper/books. Trees are a renewable resource. Did you know there are more trees now than there were a 100 years ago? And it's because people like this guy plants many trees to replace what he cuts down. How many trees have you planted?

Here in the philippines, in our brgy. Some coconut tree that are going to die to insects are being chopped to make it useful. Other people here are over dramatic coz they dont know the real reason why this guy in vid cut the tree. For us in phils. we chopped it coz it will die anyway because of insects and sometimes it will infect other coconut trees, sometimes there's 2 cconut tree that are close in each other so the other one needs to be cut to survive the other one or else it will both die. The same with this case. By the way, that heart of coconut is very expensive here in our market coz of its rarity. It sells in about 300-500 pesos.

They get offended by someone cutting a tree to eat it when their lifestyle is more harmfull to the enviroment.

I grew up in the country side, and, as far as I noticed, this coconut tree had a type of ant infestation. When this happens, they have to cut down the plant to end the infestation so it won't spread out to other coconut trees. There is no cure for this besides cutting down the plant. There's no fun nor enjoyment in doing this for most of the countryside people. Each plant is their baby but they have to let them go for their own good.

What is the use of nature if we didn't use them? Just know our limits so that we can't harm it. You can plant after that.
