The cutest Ice skating Penguin you'll see on your Christmas cake ❄️🐧⛸️
I used a 5cm styrofoam sphere for this topper.
The paste is 50/50 sugar paste/gumpaste.
When you cover the sphere use a piece of fondant to smooth out the body of the penguin as much as you can. The body shape is almost like a tear drop but rounder with a little tail.
I inserted pieces of cocktail sticks into the flippers so they'd hold better.
Make the holes to insert the flippers and the scarf before you actually insert and glue them on.
Use a florist wire for the scarf I used what I had at hand as I'd run out.
The mold I used for the scarf is a knitting mold but you could also just keep it plain if you don't have one.
The best bit was painting it grey at the back. Really satisfying. I applied 2 coats.

I’ve had requests from viewers asking me about the weights of toppers. Ive never worked that way. Everything is always eyeballed according to the size of the cake it goes on. Ive been doing this way for years and even though I’ve tried it I’ve found it's very difficult for me to follow the weight method.
