3:20 - People for the longest time thought Eevees were based off of Fennecs, but it merely has traits of a lot of critters. Foxes yes, but also dogs and cats. The designer said that Eevee was meant to evolve into many different things, so that's probably why it looks like a bunch of stuff. Flareon for instance keeps the tail shape and neck fluff, Jolteon and Flareon kept the ears, all are quadruped, etc... So it has a lot of traits because it was meant to resemble a lot of things. Of course at that time the developers probably didn't know how many it would end up getting, lol! But Eevee is so open-ended that there's probably endless possible interpretations. Though they "did" seem to keep evolutions based off of the original Special Attack definition (Excluding Fairy of course because that didn't exist then, but Fairy "is" often special focused). So we may not see a Fighting, Ground, Rock, etc... one unless they change tradition.
