Customized Cold Steel Katana Machete

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I decided it would be a good time to edit all this old footage and get this out while I'm working on a bigger video. Hope you enjoy! These customizations were to my personal preference and are as follows:
-Huge fake ito bumps on the handle were removed, jute twine tied on
-Edge taken back and filed flat, blade came uneven and very rounded
-Wooden saya for carrying in belt, with jute and tarred twine. Default sheath is fine but I find it uncomfortable, oversized, and it goes slack the minute you draw the machete. The belt sheath on the wakizashi machete seems nicer and I would get that if I didn't want to make the saya.

Thanks man I appreciate all the filing, cord tying and help with the saya. Your file skills are ultimate. I'll pin this if anybody wants to check out your channel.

@@JuardianK your katana draw is incorrect from traditional standards. You are to draw the sheath from the sword, not the sword from the sheath...

@@deezenuts7195 No, it completely depends on the style you practice. Most use a combination of push and pull while some have more emphasis on sayabiki. You can't just say one way is traditional because it's what you study. This is also a machete being worn in a pants belt, I couldn't pull it back much if I wanted to.

@JuardianK no I am saying the traditional draw is to take the sheath and extend it from the belt and draw it from the sword while performing a strike or cut with the sword on draw... this way is minimal effort and maximum effect on draw. True, there are a few different styles to this sword, but this technique is just a highly effective and beautiful technique...

This is almost exactly what I'd envisioned for mine ! What size chisel did you use and what size board? I thought about trying a forced patina on the blade but I like this look too. Awesome work man

Nice mods. Drain hole reminds me of a shinobigatana type sword. Seems like a nice beater

That actually was my line of thinking, if the saya had a larger opening I would've said it could be used as a breathing rod as some shinobi would do. But with the shape it took I thought it to be more for draining out if I went in water for some reason. Thanks!
