@@86LukeM No. The most annoying thing is the "preview" while he talks about the clip, that 9/10 just shows the whole issue, and then replaying the clip. It's like watching the same thing, twice, every time. Easy way to pad the length of the video with half of the actual content.

In the world of motorcycle dealerships, some marques are particularly known for attracting people who buy, polish. service and barely if ever ... ride. These people, almost exclusively male, buy super expensive bikes, buy super expensive riding gear and the most expensive bolt on goodies they can find ... Plus they religiously service their bikes often every hour of use. Much of that hour is the bike simply ticking over on it's stand. No joke. Ducati is one marque that sees this a great deal .... One favourite trick is for such people to change the factory oil as soon as they get the bike delivered, replacing it with fully synthetic oil. That synthetic oil, if run for even a couple of hours 'slicks' and coats the bores ... So the pistons cannot bed in, the clutch is destroyed (wet clutch bikes) and the bike starts breathing oil past it's rings and 'smoking' ... The engine is basically dead and they've killed it with 'love'. They'll try to claim on the warranty but any claim is kicked back, because full synthetic oil is NOT recommended. The only fix is to re-bore and fit new pistons ..... Which null & voids the warranty on the engine entirely. Also be aware people you can never 'lie' about when you changed oil or what you used. When warranty claims are made for any vehilce tyoe on the engine .... The oil will be sampled and sent to a lab ... Where they can tell everything from what oil make it is, how hot the oil has been and how many KM/Miles it has been used for. Plus much else. People, really ..... Only ever use the recommended oil, spark plugs, fluids and any other parts ... or you'll often be extremely sorry. *You do not know better than the manufacturer* PS Never use car oil in a motorcycle engine/gearbox ... Car and motorcycle oils are substantially different.

Having spent decades in the car dealership/workshop world, first with my father's dealerships then my own ... I have hundreds of stories about whacko customers and their bulls***. One of my favourites was a guy who had his car serviced by us, perfectly normal, paid the bill, end of conversation. About two days later he comes back. He's a builder and has 6 steel plates, maybe 4 ft long, 6inch wide by 1/4 inch thick which he wants me to cut in half. "Remember me? "Of course, what can we do for you today sir?" "I just need these cut in half ... can you do that? I just had my car servcied here" As if the two events had some correlation. "Yes, I remember obviously ...." Trying be reasonable instead of charging him for one of my mechanics doing the job he wanted I say ..... "Sure we can do that, just pay for the grinding discs, they're a € each, a couple should do it and we'll get it done for you right now" "Pay for the discs??" " Err, yes, please" "But it will only take a minute!!" I really couldn't be bothered and said _ _"It'll take the rest of our lives without a f'cking disc mate"_ He stormed out screaming how he would 'Never come to this place again!!" All I could say under my breath was ... "Good".

Also gear oil is usually part of the service. Oil filters are about $100 or more, and the under tray is a PITA. I’ve done a service on a Modena. Not rocket surgery but more work and expense than a Mustang or something. Plus whomever you’re trusting to work on your Ferrari is going to have a higher hourly rate than the guy that works on Hondas.

By todays standards that like ten grand! That was the most basic service we offered. They had a sign that read. ...If you have to ask what it costs, please leave! And the slickest waiting room ive ever seen, free everything! Snacks, beers, drinks, fully stocked fridge. Help yourself. They also sold sunglasses by the cases that cost more then a weeks pay... I was just just a regular guy this stuff blew my mind. Then I dated a rich chick I met there, got to know the family really well, and realized it was all just taken for granted by them ...This was thier life!?! Dont ask what it costs!! WTH, just get it!

Ferrari tech here. $1500-$2000 is average for annual maintenance on the mid-engine cars. There is a LOT of prep work involved, and you’re paying for the labor and knowledge of a Ferrari trained technician. If you don’t like how much we cost, then take it to “your guy”, and if they screw it up, don’t come crying to us wanting a discount to fix what someone else did. We’ll charge full price, because it’s a Ferrari and you’re a Ferrari customer, and your car costs as much as a house. Your complaints about the cost fall on deaf ears.

Most Ferraris have a dry sump oil system that holds like 15 quarts of the most ungodly expensive oil and I believe some oil filters are 100 bucks and with the time it takes to do a service 2k is probably not really that expensive in comparison, we had a Ferrari we worked on at my shop for years and when it was do for its large service the owner brought it to the dealer because he wanted to sell it and know one wanted it unless 1) the service was done 2) had to be done at a dealer. Customer even tried to get the Ferrari service writer to sign off it was done by bribing him and when that failed he paid the 5 grand for the service

@@notchback93 Very true. This is both due to the complexity of the job and the fact very few shops will tackle this. I'm always surprised when I talk to oil change shops that tell me, they won't touch a Ferrari, Maserati, Porsche or anything beside your Toyota/Chevy/Nissan/Hyundai daily drivers. Why not learn the additional models and just charge more...? People get so stuck in their ways and only want to do what they have always done. Reminds me of a guy that only did stump grinding, and complained business was slow. I asked him, when stump grinding is slow, why don't you cut grass, trim trees, haul debris, do pressure washing, whatever...? Nope. He would rather sit around and moan and complain instead.

I'm guessing by all the rust you see on 'murican vehicles, they haven't heard of "Galvanising" steel to protect it. I haven't seen cars rust like that sinse the late '80's early '90's here. Also, don't you have basic roadworthy laws there? How can you let someone drive away with broken frames, no tread? It's not a "freedom" or "rights" thing, it's just basically common sense looking after each other.

They do basic galvanising. The problem is, we (in Canada too) get somewhere from 4-5 months of snow and ice on the roads in some places. That leads to a _lot_ of salt, and some places add magnesium chloride, and binding agents that stick the salt to the road. So, not only do places in North America see more ice, for longer, but we use harsher de-icing chemicals and binding agents that stick the salt to the road...but can also stick the salt to the metal of the vehicle. And it isn't just "American Made" vehicles that rust here. Import vehicles rust just the same, some more than others. Toyota notoriously had their frame recall on the Tacomas for premature rusting, for one. It is really just a problem of the environment that some of the most populated areas of North America endures. Here in B.C. it is _less_ of an issue overall, as most of us live on the coast, and see little snow and ice, or cold weather, that would require prolonged exposure to de-icing agents. Down in the deserts of the USA, you can find vehicles that have been on the road since the 1970s, with only the lightest surface rust to be found. Onto the basic roadworthy laws? That is a state by state, province by province, or even city by city thing. Here in B.C. Canada? We had Air-Care required for insurance, in the Metro Vancouver area. But here on Vancouver Island? I don't know if it was ever a thing. And it has since ceased to be a thing, as of 2014, due to newer cars being cleaner, for longer, and less older cars being on the roads, period. But annual, or regular safety inspections are not a thing. The only time you are required to get a vehicle inspection, is when the Police see your vehicle on the road, and if they suspect it is unsafe, they will order it to be inspected. But most of the time, they are only seeing cars with obvious issues when driving: like idiots driving with their lightbars on on the highway, or people with tires sticking out of their fenders. They can't see people's cancer eaten frames. They can't see people's bald ass tires.

@@dposcuro My 2021 Japan built RAV4 has poorly applied seam sealer that missed the seam entirely in places. This will allow the salty water to get into the box frame and rust from the inside out. Also there were plastic plugs in a bag with instructions to the dealership to install into holes in the box frame during dealer preparation which they failed to do. The plugs are to keep water from entering the box frame. Fortunately I found the bag and installed the plugs myself.
