Out on the street driving with the hood closed, I"m willing to bet that the ProCharger will make less horsepower than on the dyno due to the location of the intake and air filter. This kit has no access to cool fresh air. It will be sucking hot engine air the whole time.

The tech that did this heads cam swap is awesome, but why bash GM? They have designed and built the most incredible horsepower producing families of engines in history, while being hobbled by budget constraints. Every design can be improved on, especially after the bugs show themselves after being in the field for awhile. That's when the factory, and the aftermarket tries to improve on the original designs. Great content. Will be interesting to see how much power the new package produces.

I put a ProCharger on my Camaro SS when the Camaro first came out in 2010. My car produced 505 wheel HP and I only spent $3,100 to get that tremendous jump in Wheel HP. Tell us what you spent to to get your HP dude. It’s not going to get you one more dollar when you sell the car your working on after 3 or 4 years. I had a blast for a hell of a lot less money than you are spending and I ran the hell out of my car and had ZERO problems out of my ProCharger. I could of put a cam and headers and got another 100 HP but when I can run 10.3 and 149 MPH in the quarter mile I was ecstatic with my ProCharger. I had the very soft compound Goodyear Eagle tired and I got great traction with my SS Camaro.

@@fifty-z491 wow was it in the vid and I missed it? Lol...yea unless he was only turning about 6000rpm..I assume the crank pulley diameter is larger than my 7.65...4.38 not slipping should be making power or back pressure ( boost ) at 6500...hmmm lots a variables those are very effecienct gear boxes and impellers...10 psi with I assume a stock stall aka tight ( or locked ) 650 with a 4.38...and 10 PSI... 4.38 on my car right now is 14 or so at 470ci heads flowing 360cfm..with a sequential injection retrofit to a street ram intake ( a facsimile of what a high ram is with available parts my best friend made in his garage ) and I'm out of pumps and injector 840lbs at 58psi and meth injection....spun crazy and took a 3970lb car 116mph 1/8th /7.8s 132-4 1000ft..... actually that might have been the 4.50 pulley but shifting 67-800..... Also there is a magazine build near mine that made 1267hp on a 4.50 ( I'm seeing about 1100 ish turned up according to trap rate and fuel use ) and a LS build same blower was 1247 with a 4.38....just Google F1A-94 LS or BBC build for the articles ( I went to it for the what's referred to softer down low peakier impeller)....God I've ran a 4.75 on it before and got 10 psi...with similar head flow or additional head flow with minimal exhaust restrictions and a lot more cubes and more overlap .... specifically earlier intake opening wasting boost.... If that's a -94 with a 4.38 approaching anywhere near 6200rpm or so ( they really start to turn on around the 60k impeller speed ) unless the crank pulley is smaller eeek.... Btw I mean zero harm I'm just a big fan of that blower and the 4.38 turned 6200 6400 usually has a car moving LOL...not just mine ( I am 12 rib though so slip not a factor at that pulley level guys run these 80k with tiny pullies on max effort stuff) 664 with a 4.38 only 10 psi turning say 6200rpm with modern trans and stock stall losses? Eeeek.... BUT while in summer I'm 93 with dual nozzle meth...BBC will take it with my 2618 pistons and AP total seal gapless top rings I'm fairly aggressive on the tune..... Interesting that could be a entry level procharger intercooler and getting quite a bit of pressure drop....I dont have to mess with an intercooler, heck I run 87 in winter one day when this engine finally pops going to be interesting to see what gives lol ....I also run out of the 3 inch out to 3.5 all the way to motor ( yes trying to knock the hit down even more , ok it was left over from previous head unit hehe). Yea has to be lots of pressure drop across the intercooler....I'm backing up heads flowing in the 360cfm range with much larger engine and 10 degrees of overlap ( although this cam has more favorable timing events for wasting less boost ) at 14ish 6200rpm same blower same pulley.... Thinking out loud thats why I asked I thought the blower severely under performed even with a 4.50 on it and 6200 or so rpm......

@@fifty-z491 first I meant no harm awesome car can't wait to see it done, secondly perfect compromise of blower unit for street imho...( Try to get the coyote guys to match that 10 speed up with a -94 holy shit be tough to beat on the street ), and lastly I meant no offense just thinking out loud..... One question is that the smaller entry level intercooler or the "race" version....glad to know I'm not losing my mind not seeing it stamped it's funny some sizes wont be my 4.00and 4.50 aren't but my 4.25 4.38 and 4.75 are LOL... need to get a silver pen I guess ..I have em boxed up with their belts ( I've tried running 2 gator grips greens vs 1 12rib and that handy to save money and make marks on each belt to see how much pretension to put on my jack bolt ( if bracket bends towards front that front belt will slip and the lines will get off..) Good luck bud love that we get to see back to back apples to apples!!!

  • @ejg700

    5 жыл бұрын

The Whipple is a centrifugal charger vs the Procharger which is a positive displacement charger. Whipple charger is dependent on RPMs and full boost isn't realized until you're at about 6K. Positive displacement chargers boost are linear, giving you full power on demand. Centrifugal chargers are better for daily driveability, PD's better at delivering boost throughout entire powerband.
