This is the best comment I’ve seen in YEARS.
Come on people. Start liking the 💩out of Curtis' videos. He deserves it!~!!
Great video especially for the younger techs like me!
Curtis, I normally put the amp clam on each low voltage to see which is drawing too much amps. before it kicks the mini breaker.

Indeed, and if you rig up a 24V test light that you can insert in place of the fuse, then you don't have to rush trying to make your current measurements before the breaker trips. Saves a ton of disconnecting/reconnecting. You would have found out real quick that nothing in that outside unit was drawing any current.
That platflorm looks better then ALOTTA attics you been in sir!!!! 😂 thank you for the upload HVAC Guy!!!!
Honestly even if you don't edit we'l still watch the whole thing since it's all gold nuggets of info
Good job Curtis and it didn’t even take you whole day
Thank you sr. For thinking about the new techs. I wish we had videos like this, when I first started many years ago.
Great troubleshooting video! It would've been interesting to know how that wire got shorted, I'll bet it was from a staple somewhere. I noticed from all your videos that the tool you use most are those yellow handle needle nose, they seem to be cutters strippers crimpers as well as pliers. Thanks for taking us along. 🇺🇸 👍😀
I don't like to see Bush around the units like that I don't understand why customers let it get so

I carry pruning shears if those branches are in the way I cut them out
My guess was contactor or defrost board, it ended up being the hot wire from the ac to air handler? Nice work as always Curtis!
You make shorts look so darn easy.
like the video. solve the problem that is great. they will be happy and you will be happy to. be bless SAVANNAH TN.

I echo you Billy Brown from Bolivar, TN! I lived and worked just south of Curtis in Tallahassee/Monticello area for many years doing HVAC service and sure could have used his videos back then! The techs today don't realize how isolated we were just 20 yrs ago!!
Always great tips, thanks.
That is a pretty nice looking bathroom i have to say lol, decent attic too.
Love the vibe Curtis. Keep the them coming
Wow . Amazing
Good repair
Great job, good video to watch..!!!
Nice troubleshooting ... I always liked doing it as well ... Thx ...
Thanks for the in-depth video. Stumped me for sure but you made it look pretty easy!
Great video my friend keep them coming they have helped me so much to become a successful and better Technician thank you 🙏🏻
You really need to at least try Wago wire connectors
I do hate it when my meters magnet fails on me
I hate getting these, always second guessing myself
Good diagnosis it reminds me of doing shorts back when. I guess you guys don’t have poison ivy down there

It’s everywhere.
I really think You would like a sort pro tool
Any kind of shoubury around the AC units , cuts down on air circulation
Thermostat wire shorted to ground where and how? You tell a partial story. I've seen control wires crushed under components and covers when they're tightened down. They usually don't fail immediately but with vibration, time and thermal cycles.

when you find the problem in this case a short wire ,you use another one,the where and how is not relevant.

@@ramonpardo9550 Not all systems have spare wires and knowing the cause is useful if you ever want to design, build or install equipment without the burden of high failure rates.
I think I’d carry a 2x4 piece of plywood in the truck so you can sit better
Hey Curtis my husband watches you everyday and alot of times so do I as I am an HVAC wife! My husband wants to know about the orange watch you had on . Could you please give him some info.. Thanks and We enjoy your videos!

It would be nice to say what wire was grounded some people would like to know.
how can you use brown wire to replace red? like why? what is the brown wire there for? I am confused by brown wires… I don’t think you ever said what they are for??? Interested but know basically zilch… lol. I can tell you are amazing at this tho!!!🙌🏼👍🏼

Need 4 wires to run one of those machines R,C,G,Y. And if you have a heat pump then you have O. One of those cables comes with like 8 wires inside if I'm not mistaken. That way if this happens you can just do what he did instead of running a whole new line inside and out
Was red shorted? Did you end up just using brown as red?
@HVACGUY

Yes
We’re you using ohms or continuity im confused.
Did you also have to change the wire at the Tstat?
