You should have mixed up the cuts so the lines of the boards didn't match up. Looks like a piece of plywood glued to the wall. In fact they make paneling that looks just like that. Looks nothing like shiplap.

@@TonyCollumtheHOWTOHERO What do you think about using 1970's style wood sheet paneling flipped over and ripped into 6" sheets? I got an older farmhouse home that I'm going to be doing some reno in. Someone put a lot of paneling in there back in the 70's. It's gotta come out but I'm hoping I can flip it over and rip it to use if it's thick enough.

@@CardiacCat I wouldn’t personally. It is super thin and brittle and I don’t think would be enough of a profile. • @TonyCollumtheHOWTOHERO

Moisture is a concern in any bathroom. But shiplap is no different than drywall. The paint acts as a barrier to keep out the moisture. To help ensure you seal the wood well, you can pre-paint the shiplap then install.

The (primed) 5.25” x 12’ shiplap sold at Home Depot works out to .87 per linear ft. To do a bathroom 8’x8’ would cost approx. $128 just in shiplap. 1x6x8 cost approx $147 to do the same bathroom 1/4” 4x8 sanded ply cost approx $65 Now, I know you’ve got to put in a few other things to get to the finished product including time... My way is not the only way...but it gave me great footage for a video and shows others how to do it a different way and to save some money. I was referencing 1k difference from when I did my living room at almost 500 linear ft at approx $1.77 per lf. Thanks for the feedback
