*Custom ROCK SLIDERS for a Custom LAND CRUISER*
Our buddy, Alan, from Yankum Ropes, needed a little help protecting his Lexus LX450 rock crawler from damage when hitting the trails. They decided the best method was to add custom made rock sliders made by the main Fab Rat himself, Paul. Now not only will the rock sliders protect his rig, but they'll look awesome while they're at it! Check it out!
Make sure to follow along with us as we build and fabricate cool stuff!!

Best thing about this show is it’s great to have friends. Don’t ever forget that guys.
Matt’s diet is amazing: potato chips, cheese sticks, red licorice, and Mountain Dew. Breakfast of Champions! You do get a sense for the kind of guy Paul is. He’s got all these people in his shop, talking on his video and he’s pretty cool. Lets everyone participate, have fun, and he’s not trying to be the center of attention This was one of my favorite FR vids.

Kudos for the kid friendly language and overall positive tone always present. Blessing to you all and stay well down there.

Love that LX450 I have an FZJ80 and it is the vehicle of my dreams! I really enjoy every time he shows up on both channels.
Lmao , Paul telling Allen about rolling over , came here after seeing mat’s and Paul’s video
Love watching Matt so relaxed at Paul’s. Good people all around :)
That was done very well. Always fun to watch Paul do fab work.
Ha Ha that's fantastic. Now I liked that idea with the Inner guard (fender) I think I'll be pinching that idea as payment for you guys using my idea. :) Woot Woot.

Alan and Paul are working harder than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest. Pan to Matt and he's all kicked back and comfy chomping chips. Cracked me up!!! Way fun video.

@@Rx7man Indeed. I finally got all I could stand and moved her out. I did all the paperwork and filed the divorce papers myself. I got everything I asked for too. Mainly, I made it so she had to stop using my name to get people to give her credit. Lesson learned. The divorce was final on February 1, 1991, and I've stayed single since.
Hey guys. Love the video. My best rock sliders have always always been 2 inch body lift and then welding nerf bars straight to the frame. I’ve done it to several yota pick ups and all my yota 4-runners. When they hit the lift in the shop I lift all my trucks up by the nerf bars. Solid solid guys.nvr had to re weld
I like it, but my 80 is safe for now. My Metaltech4x4 sliders have done a good job, but I do see the positives for the added clearance. Good job!!
I almost shed a tear watching the 80 fender get cut. The ‘97 is the best year for the LC platform hands down. LOVE the video!!! Last of the straight axles. The Birfields can handle 37’s. The transmission is overbuilt. I’m not in love with the 14 rubber coolant hoses though.
These are just brilliant vids, I especially love ‘Michelle’s’ what is this part segments, that’s a hoot hahahahah
New friends are always cool. That old Toyota sounds like a cool build.
Been following Paul and Matt and the rest of the gang for a couple of years, but don't remember seeing this video until now. It's nice to get a bit more background about Alan's rig.
For being blind to the master plan... those sliders came out pretty fair. Nice work as always!
1997 was THE year. Many awesome rigs from that year. Best vehicle year since 1969.

I had a 97 lx450. It was the most comfortable vehicle I have ever taken off road, my wife called it the off road couch. So capable in stock form. Hated the fuel economy and sold it, I still regret that decision.

@@robertservice2845 I know the fuel consumption is scary, but you spend very little on maintenance. I bought my 80 10 years ago for $6500 with 135 000 miles on it. I could have spent way more to get something more economical, but I though that I would never recoup the extra cash. I just never look at the bill when fill it from empty (43 gallons). Ignorance is bliss.
So excited when you guys drop a new video. My garage is under way with re arrangements and fab equipment. Thank you graciously for your motivation.

Body is rubber mounted to frame, going to be some drama if you join the sliders to the frame now
@Mr_Ruhl

Yup, shit design. And if they change their minds and decide to do it properly with brackets to the frame, they have to cut them off the body. Without doing that, they'll essentially have the cab welded to the frame... Who needs body mounts anyway... LMAO.

Frame mounted rock sliders are notoriously easy to bend because you're giving the rocks leverage by extending it out. This will be on there for the next 5 years no issues.
