Custom Peacemaker Replica Build

#WIW #Prop #cosplay
This week, I made my second 1:1 scale prop for the Wild Imaginary West. This time round, I customized a leather holster with some kitbashed technology. The tech assists cowboys in their ongoing endeavors against the megafauna of the West.
Go check out ‪@TerrainTronics‬ for some awesome tabletop electronic supplies and inspiration!

I like how the mechanics of the ammunition really enforces that quickdraw trope. Like I can imagine a gunslinger realizes a monster is charging towards them, they take their stance and flip the switch before hovering their hand over the grip, listening to the hum of the machine as it charges, and just at the last second hears the confirmation that the ammo is charged, and quickdraws on the monster just before it attacks.

Just as a note from someone who has worked with costume making / 1:1 props (especially leather), you’re going to want to use lots of mechanical connections rather than chemical connections for worn props, especially with parts that move often and are flexible. Those wires that are holding the battery pack onto the belt most likely will come off at some point because the super glue sometimes doesn’t like sticking to the glossy leather (I like to sand the leather for the glue to bite onto it if I have to use glue). Same with the styrene holding the casing on, if you bump one bad corner it’s most likely going to break on you. To keep your awesome builds from breaking there’s some great solutions out there in the costume making community. (Velcro goes a long way for stuff like this and is easily hidden). Love the video, keep up the good work!

As a hobbyist leatherworker I agree, though I assume this is more of a display piece than anything. I rarely rely on glue alone, glue is usually just a temporary/supplementary measure to keep things together when stitching.

Next we need to see the amulet/necklace made out of leather with a lore accurate monster claw/tooth. We need some boots with some cool in universe spurs that have another purpose or something like that.

What really gets me excited about this is that the electrified bullet concept sounds very similar to a Leyden jar musket ball idea Jules Verne described in 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. It just shows how perfectly the WIW setting imagines how 1800's sensibilities would make use of sci-fi technology. I'm a big fan of how you make a point to describe the limitations of your fantasy tech to keep it grounded in a way that's endlessly fun to imagine!

Considering the scale of your models the fact that there are not many tech pieces for a gun belt makes sense. It is a practical application and thus the least amount of space used is the best option. The fact that such a small energy source can charge 6 bullets with enough power to seriously harm some of those big beasties we've seen you make? That's impressive. The gun itself could use some gribbles to note where the power is being charged. Maybe a socket, spring, or rod by the pommel of the handle. But that's just minor details. This build was amazing and made me think of the time I played around as a kid. Good gun cowboy, good gun.

Coming from a gun guy: The 1873 Colt Single Action Army later nicknamed the "Peacemaker" fired the .45 (Long) Colt round, which nowadays is mostly relegated to just Cowboy Action shooting and hunting, but even now is powerful enough to put a man down with a single round. The round delivering an electrical charge would certainly amplify (no pun intended) its stopping power to the extent that depending on the strength of the charge, once it struck its target (say the brain or the heart of some large beast) the combined impact by itself and the "shock effect" could save a W.I.W. gunslinger from (still no pun intended) a grisly death.

Now, you can use the dismembered BB victims for people that the monsters ate EDIT : I have an idea! You should get a pet bearded dragon and turn its terrarium into a diorama. It wouldn’t be smart to put little plastic people in it and the bearded dragon probably wouldn’t care, but it’d be the first time that your universe actually has a living “monster”. You could also make it an opportunity for viewers to come up with names for it. I came up with this idea because there was a time when my brother had a bearded dragon and I had made a couple Lego cacti for its cage

5:44 If the Wild Imaginary West takes place around the same time as the real wild west, jacketed bullets would be relatively expensive (It depends on how close it is to 1882 when FMJ was invented), otherwise most bullets would be unjacketed lead. Idk if that‘s something you‘d want to include in the lore or anything, I just thought that maybe it‘d help! Great video, I can‘t wait to see more!

Not so sure about it needing more greebling. This thing is a holster. It needs to WORK as a holster to be convincing. It _already_ got enough stuff around the "work area" of the gun; adding more would interfere with using the gun, and then it would no longer look like a monster hunter's gun, would look like a toy prop. Betwen that and the bullet loops, only area left for greeblies would be the actual buckle. Pimping the buckle is always an option, indeed, but the holster already _works_ (i.e., it looks _convincing)_ as it is.
