You all don't need to apologize. It's a hard life . I don't work well I have seizures and can't work. I walk the roads daily. I pick up cans to recycle and I have hard days too. Days I feel lonely and like why am I here. We all need to vent once in a while. So you can use your channel to vent when needed. I'm just glad to see the work you do.

Its wonderful to show the ups and downs of everyday. I found the channel because I was curious. We have a CASE dealer in our town, and they have 2 Combines one with the wheat attachment and the other with the corn. They have some grain carts. I pass the dealer on my way to work. I am glad i found this channel, i have learned a lot in just in the weeks i have been subscribed.

Had similar trouble with soybeans years ago, used a grain cleaner, rotary drum type, to clean up grain.

Question: With those weeds lying below the wheat can you not cut higher thereby keeping the heads, but losing as much of the weeds as possible? I love the sound of the combine in the cab. When I was as young as you, I would have given a kidney to do your job. Thanks for your videos.

Years ago (1971) I was with a crew in South Dakota cutting fields that had a lot of weeds. At that time they would swat the fields and then let the weeds dry before we cut it with a pickup attachment. Back then we only had 20 foot platforms, with the swather that only had a 14 foot platform, it even reduce our efficiency. The the elevator would pull a sample to see how much of the weight was weed and then dock the load accordingly.

You dont have to explain the frustration. It is completely understandable! Yall are right you have to find the positive and keep a positive attitude, especially with the crew. This would be a time that a swather would of been excellent! Lay it down few days later combine. Best of luck and prayers yall get wrapped up and moved.

Another great video Hayden showing the trials and tribulations of custom harvesting. The Combines seem to be going pretty well, how many seasons do you keep each machine and how many hours do you put on them.

Back in the 60’s my dad had an old jd 45 with a gizmo above the grain tank we called a scout cleaner. The weed seeds would go down and were collected in a garbage can he had on the side of the combine. It worked pretty slick

Scour Kleen. When I was a kid we had an Allis 66 pull type that had one. Between the combine having a chaffer and 2 sieves and the Scour Kleen the soybeans looked clean enough to plant. Took forever to get anything done though. The Scour Kleen was made by the Hart- Carter Co. who also developed a floating cutterbar back before combines came that way from the factory.

Mom: "... you just have to trust God, ... I don't understand, ... not my job to understand, ... just keep going." Wise words spoken here by somebody in the furnace. Nearly 30 years ago, I found myself in a "Why?" situation. I was reading through the Bible that year, came to Habakkuk in September's reading schedule. The prophet opens his book with this question, "Why?" He was not being rained out while harvesting, but had other issues confronting him that brought frustration. God does answer him; an answer he does not like. Hab 2:4 provides the key, "... live by faith." Hab 3 continues with a hymn of praise, ending in Hab 3:17 painting the picture of frustration. But, 3:18-19 is the Rx, "I will exult, ... praise, ... Lord is my strength." This message has been my "go to" at these times. Maybe it can be a word of encouragement to you as well.

Years ago one fall we were combining beans about 20 hours a day because they were getting way too dry. The night of day 4 at 12:30am my combine's sickle broke. My boss and I stood there staring at it for about 5 minutes and realized neither of us could think clearly enough to fix it so we went home.

Macdon makes a “slice kit” it’s basically a bar that goes on top and bottom of the broken sickle and comes with longer bolts to counter act the the bar hight… it’s kind of a pain as the now you need a tool to hold the bolts still so you can change your sections. Hours wise…. Too many but we basically live in these combines year round. The combine that I run is on its 3rd season with us so it has the most.
