    Great work. You sir, are a true craftsman. But take it from an old man, invest in a quality pair of safety glasses. You never know when a chip of metal could fly off and ruin your life.

    I second that! And not just with metal, I was cutting wood and some pieces got into my eye and cut my eye. It was a scary moment. Went to the ER and they gave me some eye drops that would heal my eye but that’s exactly what they said “why weren’t you wearing safety glasses?”

    It's refreshing to see someone who's actually fabricating their own flatbed which is actually going to see practical use. Too many guys with heavy duty trucks that never tow/haul anything except for groceries. Keep up the work good sir, your a very useful person among your community

    Bro Seeing this time lapse video of you building the flatbed REALLY gives us a look at how much time effort & thought you put into this build I also like that you improvised and made things work 👍👍 That’s what I think makes the bed so great A real one of a kind build you never cut corners to try and hurry or [thats good enough] stuff ya know ?? Looks GREAT Really sets your truck apart from anything else out there!!👍👍 Ya wanna build me a rear bumper for my Jeep??🤣😂 Great video Congrats

    Hey man, great work. Your attention to detail makes me want to suggest something to keep this looking nice even when its getting rocks and debris pelted at it from the trail. I suggest putting wheel wells / fenders to protect all your hard work! Take some inspiration from trophy trucks of today or older work trucks ...plus I think in the state of WA it's mandatory to have fenders that stick out as far as the rubber of your tire does. Anyways it's just a suggestion from someone who think form should follow function. You did an amazing build and thank you for taking the time to share it.

    Excellent build Austin. I like the way you flared out the sides. I built several of these years ago but the way the hot rolled steel rusted here in Ohio it didn't take long for the entire bed to need a new coat of paint. Your truck probably has better off road traction with the heavier new bed over the rear wheels. Thanks for sharing.

    If I could fabricate a bed up like this for my Silverado, I’d probably put a flat bed on. The thought of a regular looking flat bed on a half ton makes me cringe lol. I definitely like the style you came up with.

  • @repalmore
    @repalmore3 жыл бұрын

    Something that I am so guilty of is over engineering the design of truck beds. Think about it, a tub is just thin sheet metal. Yes, it's shaped and curved to make it strong but you don't need 1/4 plate for a bed. (yup, that was me) Yes, need durable good size metal but just don't need near the beef that most of us guys put into a bed. I make beds now with 14 gauge and even that is pretty stout stuff. I do thing totally different now but man I tell you it's been a lot of beds to learn what it actually takes. I admire the workmanship you have put into this bed. Not just a flatbed. Welds are clean and ground flat. Holes are deburred and the like. Something that I very well may be wrong in doing. I prime everything with Rust-oleum rusty metal primer. I've painted trailers and other stuff I've built with just that and I've been extremely satisfied with the results. Maybe I'm just no good at painting and it makes up for it.

    What a nice build, you took time to match the frame so no big ugly holes like other build. One other touch you can add is a plate the the front left and right side that cover the back of the truck cabs. Maybe bolt on if it is needed to be remove from the truck. You can see the back of the truck cab at 9:19 and 9:45. Some profiled place would really make it look made for that model.

    Ok, this truck is the one that I see from tiktok all the time, and now I see this, and it's awesome. Also, your last name is Niemela, and Cameron Niemela makes dirtbike vids, and his brother makes car vids, and he said there was 3 brothers, so I always wondered where the 3rd one was, and you sound like Cameron, so Im gonna go out and say you're probably the third brother. And if you're not then everything i just typed probably sounds insane 😂. Sick truck man.
