In the registry you should change it to boot application on startup. That way when you start your car it boots like new cars right into the cluster.

I agree. And also not sure how you have your computer set up but you could make the program boot from your RAM and it would load crazy fast. But, I'm not familiar with small computers like that so I'm not sure how much room you'll have

A good idea would be to use an Arduino with an OBD2 shield to monitor activity on the canbus so that when you unlock your doors or do anything with the car it can trigger a relay to power on the gauge cluster. It would have the gauge cluster on before you even start the car.

Really cool interesting idea. How are you getting the engine data to the windows pc, does it read it through the obd2 port or what? I think you should lower the bottom of the screen to line up with the side covers you made if possible. Also how hard did you try to get the first computer to work, did you try running the software you use through wine? I'm considering a similar project on my Corvette but I'm a hard core Linux guy and windows 10 drives me nuts. Anyway great project and video.

  • @MODADDICT

thanks man I didn't try that hard to get it to work with Linux found it easier for me to just go the windows way. and yes all the info is coming from the obd2 port. only downfall about this is it doesn't track mileage. so it's not really practical for an everyday car, would have to be for your racecar.

I have a similar setup using Dash Command in my Genesis Coupe. I'm using an android tablet and a Bluetooth OBD I I adapter. there is a delay with it. Did you experience a delay for the RPM with the computer and the direct connection to the OBD I I port? I'm assuming my delay was caused by the Bluetooth, but want to know for sure before I go for a permanent solution like this.

Just strip the windows 10 of all services that you don't need. And to get touch screen you have to plug the screen into a USB port of the windows 10 pc.
