Brilliant work! Very informative, innovative, and inspiring!
That looks fantastic! Really enjoy your progress and work. Also glad you are still able to post up and seem to be doing well. Hoping the job is working out also. Well done! Looking forward to the next part.
Great work, looks amazing! Really enjoyed seeing how to do the carbon fiber.
You are a genius with this and fibreglass, Chris. Love watching you work your magic on all the various body parts. Really quite tempted to try this! Thanks again for taking the time to film, edit and upload your creations.👊

Man, what a labor of love. It's a great looking part and the joy on your face when you were done is down right infectious. You can't help but smile seeing that. I agree with the other poster, you should incorporate the endcaps for the bumper when you do it. Going to be a challenging mold but it will look really slick.

This is a perfect easy thing to make for a first project, no needing to make a fibreglass mold and using gel coats, just ally tape, epoxy, plastic board, wax, a vacuum storage and carbon fibre sheets

Such a great job man! Working on an air box for my eg right now, the box form is done, and I'll be working on the carbon part this next week. I wanted to do the vacuum bag process for it, but I've only seen it done when people use the shiny side. This confirms that the way I wanted to do it, would work. Great job and thanks for the detailed vid.

Not sure if you came up with a solution for the gap to the fenders, but you could always add a little strip of rubber gasket to fill the space
The cut out's would look awesome if you made some aluminum grill frames that could attach in place of the plastic mesh bit's and fill the open space in with the kind of fancy looking fine mesh stainless steel material you see used in places like velocity stack covers and so on. Incredible the way you complete tasks to finish product. Mad respect, love your content merry Christmas!

if you mist spray alcohol over the epoxy it will get rid of air bubbles and help flatten it out. or you can heat gun.

Great work, have you ever tried to do a hood/ bonnet? Thinking about doing one for my volvo as I can't find the style hood I want. Obviously going to need a much larger vacuum bag, and probably do a front and back and glue them together?
@BuildCreate

For sure! I want to try and find a parts car with some decent panels and use those to make molds from. Bonnet, wings, tailgate etc

Amazing work bro. Just wondering why you needed so many coats of resin on top? Did you get air bubble?
@BuildCreate

Thanks dude! Just to make sure I could get a flat enough surface and not have the weave push though. Zero air bubbles with the xcr resin. You can wave a heat gun over it just incase though.

При такой технологии изделие будет немного отличаться по размерам от модели, надеюсь что это будет не критично и встанет на место как надо. Но всё же идеально будет если сначала сделать форму, а уже потом в ней заформовать копию.

Is it okay if u can list out the process in words and the things to get.. , would like to take this as my 1st project.
Yo this reminds me of the stuff I'm doing with my truck as I'm literally doing the same shit. I reckon you should totally should have made a mould of that cowl and made the part from carbon rather than skinning and sanding it multiple times. Only because it looked in good enough condition to make an awesome finished article but you still got an awesome result.
@BuildCreate
2 жыл бұрын
Oh cool! Yeah it crossed my mind but I knew I could get away with it being slightly oversized. Plus it’s a pretty complex part to make for a first time mold 😂.
@AdamNZ
2 жыл бұрын
@@BuildCreate I believe you could have done it easy, you went as far as vac bag anyways. I’m no composites genius it’s just the surface prep that takes the longest amount of time. All the material costs can be expensive but at least you can make more with a mould plug.

Whats your wet sanding process like post 2k clear? Ive always done 1k, 1k wet, 2k wet, 3k wet, buff, polish.
@BuildCreate
2 ай бұрын
Usually it’s 1500 wet, 2000 wet, 3000 (trizact) wet, rotary heavy cut, DA heavy cut and then polish with the DA again.
Doesn't it defeat the purpose of vacuum bagging if you put more layer of resin after. Clear coat only also will yield good result.
Nice job with the vacuum bag can you remember what size the bag was by any chance?
