"Curved Shell" PakMor Rear Loader: City of Santa Monica

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This truck has spent more days in the shop than it has on route. Funny enough, Santa Monica has had this truck for around 4 months or so now and nobody has been able to find it running! Fortunately, I was the first one to catch it doing a trash route with one of my best buddies from the Public Works Dept helping out on the tipper a few weeks ago on a Friday morning. As you can see this body lacks the traditional ribs found on nearly all other Pak Mor equipment. This means a higher packing ability and moreover a fresher and cleaner looking design.
You may notice that even this mini rear loader is too big for these alleys. Well that is because this is the Ford/Diamondback's route, and since that unit was out when I filmed this, both crews hopped onto 499 and tackled the extreme narrowness of these alleys not even wide enough to fit a large SUV easily through.
So here is the first footage of a smooth bodied Pak Mor Rear Loader... hope yall enjoy it.

Unbelievable city of Santa Monica has 4 guys on that little Rear Loader in my 30 years of hauling Waste I’ve never seen a driver with 3 helpers on the back with Such a small truck.

Well this certainly a unique upload! How many curved shell Pak-Mor videos are there? 5 or 6? Interesting how they sent out a three man crew for this job. This body appears to be smaller than the ones we see in San Diego, both in length and height. From the looks of things, this route doesn't need a gripper tipper, I didn't spot a single FA cart. They must have bought that so they can cover any of the automated routes too. That's great you got to capture it when the hopper was still pretty much unsoiled, it won't be that way for long. oh and 7:40 onward is definitely the best shot. Cool to see them take those extras.

Thank you! This is really the only one I know of. Yeah you do bring up a good point there. Maybe because some carts don't have the metal tipper bars anymore. Stay tuned for more cool stuff!

Sweet catch! Really nice looking truck, I was very happy to see this when it showed up in SaMo a while back. That's really cool how they bought it with that Perkins tipper too. Definitely unique and fun to watch. Gives RL some type of automated feel to it, and being an automated type of guy, it really makes the video more entertaining haha Pretty sweet truck for an RL, I enjoyed watching this rather large crew (haven't seen a four man team in probably forever if I remember correctly lol) work. They had a great rhythm going. Awesome video!

Nice to see one of these in action, even though I'll still be a fan of the ribbed design at heart haha. Only thing I don't like about it is that tipper - I would think that it would cost more for any hauler to have them installed on their trucks, than to just replace all the bins that can't be tipped. Great catch! I'm quite curious about the body capacity as well. Do you know how big this is?
