I’ve been letting my hair color grow off since October of last year. I’ve gotten it cut a couple of times. I just turned 54, I’ve been coloring/bleaching my hair since I was about 14 years old. My mother is a retired hairdresser and she thinks it’s awful I’m letting my grey show. She is 80 and still coloring hers. I was so tired of having to cover my roots every 4 to 6 weeks. I’m loving my hair. You actually are one of the people that inspired me to go grey. Your hair is absolutely beautiful, so are you! Thanks for the inspiration!

I am so happy that you are embracing your gray! They can be really beautiful. I completely understand those who cannot do it, it took me a number of years to get to where I was ready but once I committed, it was wonderful!

I went gray at 25 and dyed my own hair for 25 years. I turned 50 and Covid happened and I went cold turkey! It's been 4 years now and I'm ROCKING my silver locks🎆🎇 I love that it's my own natural highlights 🤗 My hair is healthier also. Silver sister's ROCK 🤍🤍🤍

You look beautiful! The grays don't make you look older. I haven't colored my hair in 11 yrs. ❤

Love it! I don't think it makes me look older either. I love it! I also love how the gray changes over time. I think I will end up with mostly white hair at some point but I will still rock it!

Melanie, I really love your channel! The fact that you rock your grey hair and you’re younger than me gave me some confidence that I made the right choice. started growing grey in my early 30’s. I colored it myself for a while, then had my hairdresser color it for years. Sometimes solid brown, sometimes with highlights. I got tired of the routine, the expense, my hair was dry, my scalp would itch right after I got it colored…. The deciding factor for me was learning that some of the chemicals in permanent hair dye are endocrine disruptors. There’s a possibility that this could contribute to causing some kinds of cancers. I’m a breast cancer survivor and want to do as much as I can to avoid a recurrence. I stopped dyeing my hair during the pandemic. Hair salons here in MA were closed from mid March to late July 2020 so I didn’t have a choice. By the time my salon reopened, enough had grown out for me to decide I love the color. It’s definitely salt and pepper- more salt in front, more pepper in back. I’ve never looked back!

I'm so happy for your transition! I do think the pandemic helped in a strange way when it came to a lot more people embracing the gray and just letting go. Don't get me wrong, I am a control freak by nature. But the older I get the easier it gets for me to let go of certain things. My hair color was an easy thing to let go of once I did. I honestly wish I had just done it sooner. The amount of dye I have had on my head since 7th grade is absurd. I am so glad I am not doing it anymore! So happy for you!

About 9 months ago, I cut my hair into a short pixie to let my gray take over. I definitely don’t miss going for color.

I found my first grey at 26 but they didn’t spread. At 41 my mom kept commenting on my “blonde highlights” which were my greys. I thought it was her poor eyesight but eventually learned I need to use a purple shampoo! After a couple uses I had proper silver “highlights.” Now I have a full grey streak coming in on my right temple. I’ve made the choice to welcome them in. I use a purple shampoo once a week now as maintenance and am considering a purple conditioner as the grey is reaching my ends now. Enjoy learning from a grey pro! Your hair is gorgeous!!

I’m jealous of your grey. It’s so stunning. And for the love of god, it does not make you look old. You don’t even look like you’re in your 40’s! I wish mine looked as good. I get the senior discount😂..Being a natural redhead, I wasn’t supposed to grey they said🤷‍♀️😂…yeah, well, I got my first one at 23! After years of dying, 2018 was the decision to go natural. It’s dishwater and a lot of grey/white. It can turn brassy though. The hard water doesn’t help, but I love having very low maintenance now. I do have to pay attention to moisture, because my grey definitely wants it and will be a bristle broom if I don’t add leave in and mask once in awhile.

🤣 I just love you lol. And yes, that gray does want to go dry in a heartbeat if you let it. Very strange because my hair didn't even get that crispy when I was box dying it lol.

@@MrKongsMom it’s so annoying. It’s like the color left and took the silky smooth and thickness with it🤷‍♀️

I call that a bunch of HOGWASH😂. You look stunning with gray hair, it makes your eyes pop. Im 66, I dyed my hair fire red for 40yrs. I loved it but it was very hard on my fine hair, it started falling out. Last yr. I buzzed it almost bald. When it started coming in it was beautiful white, I couldnt believe it I wish I would have went natural sooner.
