CURON - Italy’s most famous SUBMERGED village. True story of LAKE RESCHEN/ VAN LIFE South Tyrol

Please support us / leaw
Hello Beautiful People!
Vanlife in South Tyrol, we are visiting Venosta Valley today.
Curon/Graun is best known for its Romanesque bell tower that emerges from Lake Resia and passersby are understandably curious about its history. This steeple, dating back to 1355, indicates that there once was a village down below. The last inhabitants of old Curon were forcibly ejected in 1950 just a few days before water poured in to fill the Resia artificial lake reservoir and the new Curon was relocated on the shore of the large Lake Resia.
Thanks for watching

Thank you for taking us on your adventures. I started watching you when you were in quarantine living in ”Lucky Lou.” You are such gentle souls. I hope your love lasts as long as ours has; we have been married for 54 years and counting. When we were young, we’d did pack the kids and dog up and tent camp almost every weekend and dream of the time just going across the county and live like that, but unfortunately there was no way to make money on the road. We follow the same people you mentioned. You'll take me to places I never saw before and make me feel like I'm right there with you. You know, I am confined to a wheelchair or bed so you make me feel like I’m right there with you. I am a great-grandmother not really that old but Life throws you curve balls and I was the unfortunate one who caught it so keep loving and living a beautiful life and take me with you . God bless you, and don’t ever stop loving! From a small town in Indiana USA!

Donna, you are not on your own! I had major heart surgery a year ago, ( had heart attack, followed by 4 cardiac arrests, while I was still in hospital). - Thank God, because the staff saved me... But it's left me with really poor mobility. I used to work in Nursing homes, and had actually had heart attack at work. I also follow a lot of van lifers, and if I was 30 years younger, I'd be one of them, and take you and your hubby with me!! Please keep safe, and take care of yourselves. Big hug and love, from England. 🇬🇧💕 X

I enjoyed this so much I had to watch it twice. My family immigrated to the USA from Germany and I love both Germany and Italy. I’ve been to Germany, but want to go back and I still need to visit a Italy. The town my wife grew up in is in a new location as the original town was flooded after a dam was built. The original town of Linn Creek, Missouri, USA, was settled in 1841 and was flooded after the construction (from 1929 to 1931) of the Bagnell Dam by the Union Electric Company for hydroelectric power generation. Her grandfather was a worker who helped build the dam. The power company help build two new towns to replace the original Linn Creek, one was the New Linn Creek (located two miles up the creek) and the other was Camdenton which became the county seat. Fortunately, the original cemetery was not affected by the lake waters.

Sara, home is where the heart is. Why did they build the dam? I miss Sicily so much! I never made it to the rest of Italy, except for Calabria. I lived in Sicily for 3 years. We started out, living in a villa at Campo Rotundo. Then moved to Sigonella Naval Air Station, for the rest of our time, in Italy. I have always wanted to see Tuscany. And the sculpture of the David, and the Pieta. Oh well! Love you two, very much! You bring tears to my eyes, but am happy for you. Ciao!

I can just recommend almost every place in Italy as nice and particular, because it is the cradle of culture , of art, with a big story, from the Roman Empire, to the Renaissance ... so I it seems obvious that it is easy to find beautiful places in any place. Foreigners only know the most famous ones, Milan, Venice, Rome ofc, Sicily etc. but Italy is all beautiful.

Another beautiful day with you both. Sara, your home town of Merano is dreamy. And, the mix of cultures is complimentary. I lived in Germany as a child, and love the sensibility and order of the German people. The blend of the linearity of the Germans and the la dolce vita of the Italians, appears to make for a beautiful life! And, yes, 'thinking outside of the box', is always a helpful attitude of mind, body and spirit. XO

My husband’s grandparents came to the USA from northwest Italy near the Swiss border. We traveled to Italy without our children for 2 weeks . We entered Italy from Austria through south Tyrol . We lived in Germany for 3 years, and drove an old conversion van. We were about your age and full of adventure and camped in the van. Shortly after we crossed the border our battery started wearing down. We stopped at an auto repair shop but they couldn’t understand English and we didn’t speak Italian. So we communicated in German. It was a bad alternator. Since we had an American van we continued on, saving battery power by shutting off our lights. Of course we were stopped by the police - but once they saw the children’s toy top we had purchased for our children and their scribbling in our passport they realized we were ok and sent us on our way.

LOVE THE DRONE FOOTAGE!!! Unreal and incredible!. Also...the video editing is nothing less than professional. This was one of your absolute best videos ever. The music choice was incredible as well. All of it made me feel like I was in Italy for a moment. I didn't know about the second language being German and that really surprised me to hear. I grew up near Atlanta Ga and there is a town just north of there called Helen GA and it is an attempt to replicate a small German village...it's gorgeous and very full of tourists! It reminded me of our trips there but your trip kicked it up on the scale of beauty and majesty. I'm always amazed at how God created such a beautiful world!!!

That was a wonderful tour. It would be so interesting to see what's under the water where the town used to be.
