I’m a licensed stylist who has wavy hair on a good day lol may I just say this was the most informative and captivating video I’ve seen yet online for curly haired people. I’ve watched it from start to finish and in no way have hair even a smidge close to this! Your hair is literally what I’ve always dreamed of having! Absolutely gorgeous!

Because there are so many different types of curly hair. Because without all the complicated processes most of us just have a fuzzy mess with no curl definition. Because curly hair basically sucks. I grew up up in the 60s before all the curly hair products.

@@godblessamericamyhomesweet1094 I take it you don't have curly hair. Well...if us curly girls can survive being shamed about our "wild and crazy" curls and living in a world that for decades has promoted straight hair as the beauty standard, then you'll be okay.

@@iamnotmyhandle Um, it was a compliment, sorry. My hair is so curly and living in the south with 100+ temps and what feels like 1000% humidity, I had long given up on it and have spent the last decade in a pony tail. In the last 2 weeks I've been watching these videos and actually TRYING to make my hair look like less of a frizzy mess, only to be met at the front door with torrential rain and a literal sauna outside. I think you know how depressing that can be. On top of that, the Aveda products I finally tried turned my hair to straw, and the deva curl after that turned it into grease. Now I have a greasy straw disaster going on, which makes the tropical storm we lived with just the cherry on top of a horrendous start to "bettering" my hair. Having to sit through work looking like a wet hay bail isnt exactly a fun life experiencr. When you said "Its a privilege" it was a compliment and made me feel like I need to stop being such a curmudgeon and keep trying, and hopeful that ONE day maybe something will work, and I will be able to actually wear my hair down for the first time without the use of a straightener. Hopefully your situation is better. God bless.

So thankful to find this video when I did! I am a couple months into CG Method and that's EXACTLY the cross roads I was at - I know the WHATS and I've been doing them for a bit - but knowing more about why you do what you do so you can see when that certain step is or isn't necessary - is so important! I feel like this helped me with exactly what you hoped it would - just gain a big of control over my own experience. When you're still learning you pretty much just do what others have done and hope it works - now that I have a good baseline I feel like I can change small things to see the good or bad results for MY hair. Thanks a bunch :)

I am so happy you shared this video. Since I can remember my hair looks like your hair in the first part of the video. I have always struggled with frizzy waves that have caused me to be self conscious about my hair for YEARS! To ‘fix’ my hair I tend to blow dry, straighten, or curl it but still end up being frizzy. Well in all my baby pics I had an Afro of curly curls!!! I’m definitely type 2b/c but my hair has been mistreated for so long. I’ve started my curly journey and I hope to have pretty bouncy curls like yours some day. Thank you!

If you have a looser curl pattern these things can be the difference between frizzy straight hair and 3a curls :) all these things will impact how your hair curls :)

Great video! I appreciate hearing "the why" because I am very new to the curly girl world. I'm still trying to figure out what my hair wants to look like and how it wants to curl. Some parts are super curly and some parts are just barely wavy

Oh my goodness this is AMAZING and so so helpful! I still don't really have any products :'-) But this is so great in giving me an idea of how to be less 'robotic' about washing my hair. Using CG friendly products isn't enough to get my hair healthy, I need to learn to listen to it too. You're awesome! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

I’m fairly new to knowing my hair is curly, I’ve been wondering why my underneath curls have gone funny but your example of a strand that needs protein is exactly what mine look like!! I’m off to find a protein styler.. thank you xxx🌟

I love this video. I’m still a little confused on protein etc. I’d love a quiz I could take to find what my hair needs because I’m starting to believe it just is the way it is and I can’t change it. I tried an aphogee protein treatment once and didn’t really see results but my hair is very moisturized and can get weighed down by products. It’s less and less curly as I get older and harder to get definition and volume. definitely going to have to look at your styling routine. I don’t usually apply product half way through. Then again I’m usually wash and out the door.

I know this video is old but I wanted to say THANK YOU! I’m new to taking care of my curly hair and you’re the first person I’ve found to explain when and WHY you need protein!!! God no one explains these things! So many people just say oh try this, put in this! Without simply explaining things. I’m a little less overwhelmed!

I came across this video because i’m struggling with my hair right now. My texture and curl pattern have changed DRASTICALLY over the past year, and i’m learning what is needed for my hair type and why. There are still many things i don’t know yet (which i thought i did) but experimenting with new products gets confusing and expensive. Could you make a video in the future going in depth what forms of protein in hair products there are, when to use leave-in conditioners, styling creams, gels, according to your hair type? Sometimes i feel overwhelmed doing research on what best suits my hair, using minimal products. Love the curls btw!

I try to avoid going into specifics on other hair types simply because I can’t personally test it. I can however break down products and when to use them etc, generally. What is your hair type? Maybe in the mean time I can point you in the direction of someone similar so you can learn from their experience?

Lol I have more tighter curls but my grandmother’s hair is like yours. She said she has *never* seen her curls before. It would always look straight or stretched (like yours in the beginning) after shampooing it. Tried a few of these tips on her curls and they really popped! -I used a mousse instead of gel. She was actually so happy and amazed at her hair. So thank you, from us!

I'd love to hear more about your philosophy about your hair being touched while drying. I have never in my curly life intentionally let my hair air dry so much before putting product on so your whole approach is very new to me. Just curious to know if you are very particular about keeping your drying hair from being touched by your own hands, pulled by putting a shirt on, brushed up against your couch. Any challenges to your current routine? Any reasons for why you do what you do WHILE drying?

I put my curly hair in a t-shirt so it doesn’t get touched. Wait till it’s about 50% dry put product in. then back in the shirt again till about 25% dry. The T-shirt absorb the product and also doesn’t irritate the curls like towels do. Then air dry the rest of the time. Try sleeping with a silk pillow case or anything silk against your head and the pillow. Skin shouldn’t mess up the curls. Hope that helps
