actually my girlfriend got cancer, it was so tough to watch her go through it, i did keep talking to her, but at the very end, omg, when hope is gone, soul crushing, so i get what they're saying 😞

@@artvandelay3840 You can get to a point where you just don't have enough left, to face someone else's health problems, let alone support them or deal with them. It's not about pretending to care. I still have voicemails that I haven't listened to, from someone that I couldn't answer the phone for, a year and a half ago. So, when that guy said "I don't know," that's real AF. That's not comedy... it's a part of life that you don't find out about until you do it. On the other hand, when my gf got it, I worked 80 hours a week to help her get treatments, with no days off for years. That's another thing you find out -- ain't nobody going to help you.

no he couldn't. Richard Lewis bets 2$ and Larry follows. However, they mess it up next because the turn is revealed before Leon and the 2nd guy could follow the bet. Then for some reason Leon, Richard (!) and Jeff fold for some reason, while Swat is checking for some reason. it just keeps on going,... There's a lot of continuity errors here omg :D great scene nonetheless

My aunty has cancer. She's always had a fantastic sense of humor. I knew I could show her this scene and she would appreciate it: She got it and laughed a hell of a lot, called me a bastard while having the widest smile and glint in her eye, peed herself a little, told me she had peed herself a little, excused herself from the room, came back down shortly after in fresh lower half clothes, poured another glass of whatever (burbon?), demanded I "play that again"; and giggled some more. She knows her time is limited, but I get the feeling this clip put a good six to twelve months on her ass!

Nobody ever seems to take health issues into account, either. My grandma died at 71 with very limited mobility or stamina, but my former employer is 75 and is renovating and running a pub pretty much on his own. There's so many factors.

The perfect thing about this dialogue is it could be a real conversation between friend just being overly ironic and satirical to lighten the mood

I don’t see why they can’t be “let’s pretend you don’t have cancer friends” so they can keep hanging out.

Though I have no experience with this but once someone has cancer, their majority of daily routine becomes wrapped up around cancer. So it's hard to pretend that they don't have cancer because the topic is bound to come up at some point when you are hanging with them. Also that person would be looking like shit if they are going through chemo

It might seem like a random and silly dialogue, but apparently there is such a thing as "cancer ghosting": some friends or relatives avoiding the person after the diagnosis out of fear for the disease, loss of esteem for the sick person now that they're in a vulnerable state or refusal/unability to help and support.

I love the show, is a comedy not a drip of tragedy

One of the best scenes of dealing with that contrast in recent memory was (the late) Funkhauser blaming Larry for the death of his nephew who was the "light of his life", and then the next moment cheerily saying he'd "love to" participate in something.
