Had to watch it twice to pick up all tips. My previous house I put in the color river rock and after about a year I was ready to replace with mulch. As easy maintenance as it was you just can't beat mulch. Love the Korean Lilac, and using a mailbox for a main feature.

Thank you sir! Yes, I like mulch but if you are going with decorative rock this isn’t a bad option. 👍🏼
we have landscape rock in 3 sections , still have to add to it as time passes (insert Lower Back Ache here😁😵) - plus rock is hotter than mulch - mulch is more user friendly to add plants later🥰🥰

Rocks cook that's for sure! I will say one benefit is the cat loves to stick her paws around and under every piece of rock in the hopes of catching a lizard! So, at least it makes her happy.

St. Louis is mulch obsessed. Rock is not maintenance free. Leaves and debris get caught in it easily. It’s a pain to blow out or worse yet to have to pull out by hand when it gets trapped. Homeowners and landscaping installers often fail to think about how rocks will trap leaves from trees on the property or neighbors or from the plantings put into the design. And good luck in St. Louis finding a mowing crew who is willing to do a quick blow of the rocks whenever they mow even if it takes all of 15 seconds. I had a dry creek installed and it turned out to be a horrible costly mistake. Do not have thousands of dollars to correct it. Avoid rocks if you can!

@Crystal McKinney Yes, you should never put mulch directly against the house. It comes with a lot of problems too. I'm just amazed by how much homeowners in St. Louis are in love with it.

I love mulch for how natural and beautiful it is. Maybe I will make a video showing a really cool trick I do with decorative gravel and mulch to hinder termites. Interested?

Yes. Pretty much every landscape design software can do this. I use real time.
The deer eat everything except barberry, boxwood and pampas grass
