Curator's Corner Season Eight | Season Wrap Up | Answering your Burning Questions
It’s been a while since we posted Season 8 of Curator’s Corner, and in that time you guys have asked a lot of questions. An awful lot in fact!
So, we thought we’d try something new. We’ve invited some curators back to get you the answers you have been hankering after. It’s a kind of curator’s Q and A, and a Season 8 wrap up all in one.
Season 8 was pretty special because we got to travel to Japan, Iraq, Leicester and Highgate cemetery. And with almost all the films you wanted to know more. So…
00:36 Curator of Horology Oliver Cooke answers your clock questions, including something many of you were desperate to know. What watch does a curator of horology wear?
06:00 The BM’s Curator of Renaissance Europe, Rachel King’s video about how to date a very bling Tudor pendant linked to Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon, garnered a lot of questions. Not least, where was it found?
09:40 Although we couldn’t go back to Japan to ask woodblock artist Dave Bull your questions in person, he was flattered by the fact that quite a few of you thought he looked like Luke Skywalker.
12:56 That unique and amazing iron age shield made of tree bark, the Enderby Shield, really piqued your interest. Many of you couldn’t believe a relatively small bark shield would provide any protection in a battle at all. So we had to see what curator Sophia Adams had to say about that.
24:28 And curator Henry Flynn’s tour of Highgate Cemetery got a lot of you wondering how he even found some of those graves, given how hidden away they were?
Let us know if you like this wrap-up/Q & A, and if you have more burning questions we can do this again at the end of Season 9.

David Bull is such a character, very entertaining to watch and listen to.
Absolutely brilliant; Curator’s Corner is the best thing in YT. Can’t wait to see Irving Finkel’s one 🥳
I just love museum vids like this.

Curator's Corner Season Eight | Season Wrap Up | Answering your Burning Questions. 18.4.24. Ask Japanese block print curator to go to Ai software to ask Ai image creator to recreate medieval Nipponese wood block prints with the varying gradations of White, greys, Black within the image...a future topic for lecture or curator's misgivings regards loss of craft in the alleged real world....
Wonderful series with suitably nerdy and enthusiast experts. Looking forward to the next one!!

I only have one gripe: Make more of these and more often! I guess that was two things.... anyway, I really enjoy these videos (and please bring back the Membercast!)
That was a fun video. I'm looking forward to the next series of Curator's Corner.
Yes please summary episodes are great!
Yes, I would love to see this end of the season Q & A for season 9. Thank you
You guys have so much class! All your videos are interesting and beautiful. Also you are the types one would enjoy having drinks with. Love your channel.
Excellent way to wrap up the series: definitely needs to be repeated!

Maybe, but the smaller one would be easier to move around to get it between you and a weapon coming at you. I think it would also be easier to maneuver so you can take a weapon strike on the edge of the shield and deflect it
Love this!
i understand why we use metals and stone to characterize ages but i feel like textile making, weaving, basketry, wattling, etc. must have been much more important to everyday material life and peoples basic life skill sets. calling it “stone age” or “iron age” sort of skews the popular imagination in a way, i feel.
If you're filming in a conference room next time theow down some blankets on the table putnof site. Some of the audio was a bit prickly. Looking forward to season 9!
Rachel, your scarf is awesome.
This was brilliant!
