Last season, it took us until October to score 3 league goals! 5 changes made from the side that won on Saturday. It was a stunning performance from Gills! 💙

Gillingham deserve more credit

Highlights are very flattering to Southampton tbh. Gills had a good few chances including a dubious disallowed goal and a reaction save that should have gone in.

Get used to it. Will take a while for Martin to get off the line. Did with Swansea then towards the end had them playing some nice footy. Only downside is the defending

Gillingham wanted it more imo. Have to say, one of the most dull commentaries I have heard for a while.

The lack of intensity in our play is shocking, so passive and slow. Even lower league teams beat us just by running harder and getting the ball in our box. We should be glad to sell as many as we can and bring in hungry players with fight.

@@fazman72 they just snuck by Sheff Wednesday too who were very poor. Russell Martin was a poor appointment.

It’s not a shock though, some of us know exactly what MartinBall is all about, they had 72% possession and lost 3-1, Southampton supporters need to get used to this and super fast, it’s how Russ works 🤣 his defences are non existent

We were playing a backup left back and lyanco at CB, no wonder our defence is non existent, the three goals we conceded were set pieces anyway, which has been our weakness before Martin came in

I agree, this style is too passive for me, but I think the main issue is our defence at set-pieces. We conceded from one against Wednesday and last night we conceded twice from second phases after set-pieces.

If JWP leaves for West Ham we will burn the stadium down.

they definetly didnt play like a league 2 team against basically a prem team.

Southampton got their just desserts here. Not putting your best available players on the pitch is disrespectful of the opposition. It happens alot with the "big' teams. There should be a rule that "forces' each team to have their best players on the field in all competitions, if they are unwilling to do so they shouldn't be in the competition in the 1st place. It won't happen, of course, the organisers want the Man. U''s and Arsenal's of this world to boost the TV ratings even if it short changes the spectators and viewers.

English stadiums went to all seated (apart from some with new stadiums) after accidents like Hillsborough, but last I heard there were plans to introduce standing again. My club Stockport County's ground Edgeley Park is an all seater stadium

Live in Berlin mate, and am a Gillingham fan. The reason why Southampton fans sat where they were, is because that is our away supporters end. Most clubs do not bring that many down to Gillingham in L2. Accrington Stanley this coming saturday will probably bring less than 100 fans and will be seated at the end of the stand parallel to the open end. The open end will be closed most probably. We would never ever seat away fans in the Rainham End or the main Stand. These ends are 100 pro cent home fans. All the best Dave

Like Stockport as a club, and wish yourselves and us along with Bradford go up this season, with Mansfield winning the playoffs. Long way to go, but this season should be very exciting

McCarthy should’ve saved at least two of those goals. Need a better goalie
