Backstage at London's Electrowerkz last week I had a cup of coffee with TRUST, aka Robert Alfons, aka the one-man-electro-goth-band.
Not one to reveal his age but happy to talk about his upbringing and musical inspirations, Mr Alfons would collaborate with Calvin Harris as he'd think "it would be really fun. I would be so interested to see how something like that would work and how they would write a song." Saying that, chart dominance is not on his mind.
Mr Alfons also spills some deets on his forthcoming album number two, reveals his thoughts on on music piracy and "how ridiculous it would be to try to keep tabs on it" and tells me why he does not read his own press.

I love this guy. His music, lyrics, voice, everything. Its more than moving to me. Makes me feel, amazing. Wish I could see him in concert

It's funny because most singers talk with a deep voice yet even sing in falsetto, but he kind of does the opposite lol

Saw them with The Faint in Sacramento. I feel like if industrial is coming back, these guys are going to be the ones to make it happen.

I still can't understand how these guys haven't been bigger I think somebody big could have easily represented them they fit in really nicely without selling out. Same like boy harsher they're not comparable but I love them and have trst to thank for discovering them

oh, the interview with him on KZread, finally! And yes, I also expected him being different. Like some shy, frowning, melancholic guy, but he totally broke my idea. He's incredible and I cannot wait for his new stuff!
I'm so glad I wasn't the only one saying Ace of bases first album was really special and had so much potential for today's music they have house and trance in there, it's real good this coming from Robert Hiley makes my day. Trust has been 'a known pleasure' for me since 2013 when I first heard them and I love every album I usually put them on repeat but the first one is still my favorite.

@darklight1030 Gotcha... he writes and records everything. When you're talking about industrial and dark wave there are fine lines for me personally as a musician. Regardless of what "genre" he gets lumped into I still very much appreciate his approach and originality within the current river of shit that's being crammed down everyone's throats. We need more of this and more EBM clubs.
He didn't cut the drummer...Maya Postepski is also the drummer in Austra, and they had other stuff going on.
Its just him, not really a band, and help from Austra. He also claims his music is his interpretation of dance synth pop in 90s, but definitely more dark wave electronic dance than industrial. I've seen him 3 times, so great

omg, why are you so pretentious, stop telling what you expected from him or how delusional you are by listening how he talks or if hes gay or not, we dont fucking care, love him for what and how he is and thats it, he makes amazing music and thats what matters.
Last I knew which was a couple of months ago, he cut the drummer. Pretty sure that is still the case. They have a play button for the base lines haha
