Cummins to the fore with five, England at sixes and sevens | Men's Ashes 2021-22
Спорт
A wicket off the first ball from Mitchell Starc started a near perfect day for Australia, with Pat Cummins claiming a five-wicket haul on his captaincy debut as England were bowled out for 147 before rain washed out the final session.

Can't click off this video without thinking about how the basics were key to the Aussie's killer day here. - aggressive fuller length bowling - They did they homework clearly on all England players batting - Took every catching chance, creating a great atmosphere in the field and setting the standard - Keeping up the energy amongst eachother.... Honestly I can't say much more than that. Weaker England lineup yes, but this was just doing the simple things well.

What an amazing start to the iconic Ashes series! The energy levels of the players and commentators alike, along with the cheers (and jeers) from the crowd, are nothing like anything we have witnessed over the test series' that have been conducted over at least the past 3-4 years. The opening delivery - the magical Starc inswinger - uprooting Rory Burns' middle and leg pole may be as ominous a sign for heralding England's fate as was the Steve Harmison opening delivery (a wide straight through to the second slip) in the 2006 Ashes. The electricity through the ground was nothing short of that which could be felt throughout each and every Test of the 2013 Ashes, when a certain moustached left-armer ran through England, with speed, speed, and brutal hostility (Remember Taylor's words - "Pace, real pace!"). Cummins' hostility today had some uncanny resemblance to Johnson's in 2013. If Starc can come into his own over the course of the series, this could very well be one of the longest and most dreadful series for the English team. The only thing missing from this highlights package is Mark Nicholas' legendary commentary - he would have made England's collapse (can we call it that? There wasn't really a collapse so much as there was being totally outplayed by a superior attack) all the more memorable. Gotta love the amazing sarcasm towards the end (roughly 7:34 mark) - "Good morning if you're tuning in from England; your team was knocked over for a 147!" Superb video and definitely earned my kudos!

Great performance by the Aussies.Perfect start to the ashes.Hazlewoods delivery to Root and Starc's delivery to burns were both incredible. The batsmen could do nothing about it.Especially Hazlewood's was unplayable.Waiting for Steve smith's world class batting tomorrow..

All Australia and overall cricket fans can try and answer these fun questions - Here's a couple of questions. Do answer quickly in comments, without googling it. Question - 1. In 2003 World Cup Final, Sehwag's 82 off 81 balls gave India a ray of hope initially after Sachin's loss. However, not many remember that Sehwag was caught at square leg but was saved by the no ball on that delivery. WHO WAS THE BOWLER??? 2. On 23rd October 1999, the cricketing world was stunned yet another time when Aussie captain jam packed 9 fielders in slip cordon for a batsman. WHO WAS THAT BATSMAN??? Anyone who can answer second question without checking on internet is simply knowledgeable genius.

@Sameer Anderson is overrated. Not even close to Steyn and Cummins. Just look at his difference of averages home and away. Even Bumrah is better overall than Anderson. Just my personal opinion.

Pretty early to say but yes Dale steyn was outstanding in Asian conditions Lets see what Cummins bring in the 4 match test series against India next year
We all know Starc's celebration was for Shane Warne, in the comm box, who literally slammed him all guns blazing. Even after the dismissal Warne was finding it hard to digest the wicket, expecting a no-ball and criticizing the delivery itself. Such a waste
Dream start for Cummins as a captain
Love the first ball moment. Love it 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
