Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad, August 25th-27th 2016

What a railroad! Words and images cannot hope to describe this amazing 65 mile long line. What an experience it would have been to travel on the vast three foot gauge Rio Grande network in it’s heyday.
This is a compilation of clips taken over three days, arranged in ‘geographical order’. There are no clips between Cumbres and Chama as when we were on the train the weather had turned wet by this time and when we were on the ground in this area, we were chasing the freight train with #315 - see our other video.
Filmed by Dave and Tom Waldren.

WOW!!! Although a 2-8-2 class engine, K-36 Mikado #489 sounds like a much larger 4-8-4 class steam locomotive, such as the Cotton Belt #819 or U.P.'s #844. I'm very pleased with #489's sound as of late, which places her at the very top of my list of favorite Cumbres & Toltec steam power.
