Oh my goodness. Those Flour sacks brought up so many wonderful memories from the past. With my minds eye, I can see my mother sewing dresses for my sisters. Mom and Dad would often go to the feed store to buy feed for the chickens and rabbits Dad raised. Mom would usually come back home with at least four floral printed sacks. Some were plain, these, she would make into dish towels. Yep, Spring and Summer you would see flower printed girls flitting around like butterflies.

Talking about flour sacks. My grandad was a coal miner his entire life, like the men in his family before him. He died when I was 3 of black lung and heart attack getting up from the dinner table. That left granny with 11 younguns to raise. I have a quilt my granny made that is flour sacks on one side and grandpa's denim overalls on the other. I would trade the love that is in that quilt for nothing. I am 63 and I treasure it

John Gullo But if you had the southern hospitality there you wouldn’t have to dream of retiring and moving south. Grin grin. I live in a small southern town back up in the mountains where folks see someone they know while driving through town and it’s just fine to stop and speak a minute. We don’t blow horns and throw the finger we just drive around and toot at the people chatting and everyone waves.

Haha Cute Phrase "Field Clothes"! In 1964 when us Grandkids would barrel out of a Oklahoma BlackJack Missionary Baptist Church on a hot Summer Sunday, our Granny would often say to us, _"Alright Kids, you can go home and put on your "Snake Clothes!"_

@@ricjohns545 I agree with you , Ric Johns: They are just displaying a strip and piece from history and the era. Not making any sort of commentary. It adds to the zeitgeist and authenticity. I basically have a massive collection almost to tthe point of or surpassing this store. I have much Black, African-American historical pieces such as this. You can call it historal Black ephemera, Sambo, Mammy, whatever art and history. I love it, and I am certainly no racist. I am a collector and historian. They did nothing wrong in displaying it, and this was a wonderful and fun trip down Memory Lane.
