    The girl from Jamaica saying she found conversations to be 'superficial' it's probably because most Argentinians have a basic level of English (or even not knowing a word). IF the person speaks English reasonably well they'll stop asking those basic questions. This applies to every country and every language in the world.

    The most interesting about dating in Argentina experiences is that people don't decide whether this is a feminist or sexist country. My bet? Theres a huge difference between +40 and -40 years old people. Also women tend to be more feminist than men, so we offer to pay and stuff but men still approach you in uncomfortable ways. Just look at the fact that our feminist movements is one of the biggest in the world but also Javier Milei got elected. Argentina, no lo entenderías.

    I think its because we are more "feminist" than most latin american countries but at the same time we are more "sexist" than some european countries or the U.S. so depending on where you are from its going to seem one way or the other

  • @vickycc5020

    @vickycc5020

    @@Georgina-lv9bt i think we're feminist in a different way. For example in the USA they have a stricter approach when it comes to touching and personal space, while Argentinians get closer (which sometimes can be uncomfortable). The USA has more contrasts and way more women that approach dating in a traditional way, looking for commitment and getting married before having children is more common in the USA for example. But due to Americans having more respect for personal space I think their average sexists are softer than our average sexist which is a fuckboy. Most young argentinians would agree with the 50/50 payment and women's rights but the touchy approach is still there, also this idea of kissing somebody in order to let them know you're interested sometimes put men in weird scenarios (thinking 'i have to kiss here otherwise she will think I don't like her), so men end up not understanding context.

    @@vickycc5020 That touching thing has NOTHING to do with feminism. We touch bc we're LATIN, Italian-descended people. Men kiss other men like we do in Italy. Anglos, Germanics, and Scandinavians don't do that bc "mY pErSoNal sPaCe". It's engrained in the respective cultures and has ZERO to do with being sexist or not. You can be a very pro-feminist man and still be touchy bc that's what got engrained in you since you were a baby, it's just a reflex.

    Very interesting! I felt a bit sorry for the Jamaican lady when she said she wasn't really approached on the street. I began to wonder if there is a similar racial bias / preference as in other Western countries where Black women find it harder to date non-Black men. But then when she spoke about how men approach women in Jamaica, I also wondered whether she is the rare person to come to Argentina from a country where the men are EVEN MORE forward than Argentine men! And I have experienced travel in Argentina whilst not speaking Spanish so I understand the American with the language barrier - hopefully he was inspired to start learning Spanish!

As an Argentinian I can say that all of this fast peaced approaches are more likely if you are an outsider, people discriminate a lot,and the more "rare" a person is the most attention they gave to them. For example an American or european are more important to girls than poorer people,where they came from the stronger first sight discrimination from shoes to head. ( it sounds awful but it is what it is). I have changed from thin to fat and skinny to obese and the difference of my body changed the way people see, talk or even think of me.

I've living out of Argentina all my life and even at official events at my Embassy, let's say the Ambassador is suposed to give his speech at 12:30 before we destroy the buffet, he'll be at least 30 minutes late IN HIS OWN HOUSE - those 30 minutes or full hour are always called "the Argentinian 15 minutes" by the officials themselves. If you're gonna date one of us, or attend to some business, or just meet the gallery owner where you want to expose, the ONLY way you can get things do is to always fix a time at least 60 minutes BEFORE the time you'd really want. Or lure us with some $$$ - "If you show up right on time, not a minute later, I'll give you this $20" - that wouldn't be lost on us.

    There are some bias, yankees are all tall and blonde or white at least. If you are not in those standards you are invisible here most of all for brunette and further blacker skin girls. That's why she would be not so frustrated to split the bill if you are local you pay. Also because of this; proyection or long term relationship is almost impossible to talk about in a first date, but msybe for foreigner is more easy. My advice for foreigner: DO A MESS

    Dude, you know nothing. Locals don't behave the same with foreigners as they do with locals. And that dynamic is universal. Me as an argentinian, women are closer to Japanese women than Colombian or Venezuelan who are sweet as hell. Argentinian women pretend to be nice but they're not that nice. They tend to be hard to get when it comes to dating. They don't make it that easy and it can be exhausting. They can be demanding but can end up being with an ugly guy despite being hot. They're not that liberal and direct. That doesn't mean they're conservative. They're confused, they don't know what they want and there and then, you end up confused also.

    That’s ironic because Argentinians are completely, positively adamant they are “Americans”. That’s in spite of the fact that the rest of the world outside of South America refers to them as Hispanic Latinos.

    It’s ironic because Argentinians are convinced they’re ’Americans’ when in reality they’re just Hispanic Latinos more similar to Mexicans, Bolivians and Dominicans than they are to real Americans from the United States of America. Hell, Argentina isn’t even located on the same continent as the United States of America.
