The 79' Falcon was the 1st model I ever had. The neighbor had bought a 70' Cuda and the Falcon was found in the trunk. The model was assembled but not painted so the neighbor gave it to me. I own it today and the lights still work although it's very basic much like the 79' amt smoothy refit enterprise lights. I had no idea that the falcon kit originally came with lights and always looked at it as a custom job up until now. I built my own in the 80s but that kit didn't include the lights.

Very cool! They did a great job with the reissue!! Love seeing the comparisons with the '79 kit. I remember how everyone had to have one back then! (and now, today!!!)

Built this when it first came out. I was so proud of the lights! The cockpit was horrible; two inaccurate seats and a clear bulkhead that had a huge dreadnaught door. Outer Space Outfitters once made some nice panels for the cockpit. They still pop up on ebay sometimes. The new lower sidewalls look great.

Wow, didn't realize the original kit came with lights. Wonder how long those old bulbs would have actually lasted.

Thanks for doing the comparison. Glad to see they "slimmed" down the side walls. I built the old kit twice. Even though it came with the lights I remember them not being very good, and always wished they did an upgrade. Any word on an aftermarket lighting kit for this?

The Bandai Version of the Falcon is a Pretty Good Kit I know I've built it 4 times and if I had the Space I'd get that Re-release Version and Build it up With Lights and Sound Effects But I don't have the Space to Display it so until I do all I can do is Order it and put it away in my Stash of Models.

Are the cockpit decals made to be placed on the clear back wall and allow the light to shine through?

I have the OG MPC model. I bought it from ebay but discovered the decal sheet had degraded too badly to use. I searched everywhere to get decals for this model but I turned up nothing. I'm so glad they are re releasing this model so now I can get the decal sheet for it!

The reissued kit is a major improvement over the original kit. Just buy the new kit. You won't regret it.

I have a question. Is it really MPC reissuing the MF or round2 is a company on their own?
