Cultish - William Branham & The Road To Jonestown, Pt. 6

Ойын-сауық

Welcome to the last episode of our series on William Branham. At this point, it must be hard to separate fact from fiction, but that is precisely the point.
You have been on a wild ride for the last few weeks. You have heard it all, from prohibition to shootouts, the fabricated stories of William Branham, and the wild-sexcapades of Roy Davis. Yet it all must climax somewhere the story of William Branham must come to an end. The end of William Branham began at the birth of the most infamous preacher man, the black-haired Raven, Jim Jones.
Branham was a pragmatist, a man who saw the blossoming preacher, Jim Jones, as just another opportunity to get his "Message" throughout the earth.
The two collided to create a symphony of madness. For Branham and his white-supremacy message, his soliloquy at work was a juxtaposition to the civil rights leader Jim Jones.
How did the two get along?
How did William Branham die?
Did Jim Jones amalgamize any teachings from Branham?
Tune in to this last episode of the series: William Branham and the Road to Jonestown, to find out.

Thank you for bringing this history to light! Ministries like Bethel (Redding) and IHOP (KC) have Pied Pipered their way into EVERYTHING! Their methods of drawing in youth and young adults would be excellent source material for any secular marketing class 😕. I spent a few too many years riding the waves of these teachings - and over time I took notice of a cyclical pattern emerging with these and other “prophetic” ministries. Same “words” year after year, season after season. God was ALWAYS doing a “New Thing” 🙄 - this mysterious revelation or impartation of a season greater than the one previous. This 5 part series - while only scratching the surface - gave TREMENDOUS insight to the roots of these ministries teaching another gospel. They have bought in to a distorted history of “God’s Generals” believing that it is truth - and built doctrinal lies and heresy around it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Also, more please!!! 😁

Very interesting, especially the connection with Jim Jones. Im from Indianapolis and apparently my great grandfather once preached at his church in the early days and according to my grandfather he cut ties with him even prior to moving to California. My grandparents knew people who died in Jonestown, they have stories of running into their family members around town after 1978, weeping for their lost loved ones...chilling. In addition, we know a guy who grew up next door to Jim Jones and he apparently had monkeys that would sometimes get loose...? Another part that I really appreciated learning about was about Latter Rain and William Branham and others who have greatly influenced today's hypercharasmatic movement and faith healers.

22 Now, my subject this morning, I trust that God will reveal this. And each time, if you who take the tapes and listen, and I hope and trust that-that you have had a spiritual understanding of what that God has been trying to get over to the Church without saying it right out. See? It’s a thing, sometime, we have to say things in such a way that it might thin down, it might bring some to go out, some to leave, and some to-to-to ponder over. But that’s done purposely. It must be done that way. 23 Then it might be that some would say, “You mean God would purposely do a thing like that?” He certainly did. He does yet. 64-0614M - The Unveiling Of God Rev. Great series. I attended (and worked for) a London pentecostal church where Roberts Liardon was on the staff for a while (he was also head of the Bible school) Gods generals was a big thing and had me so fascinated, Liardon did include the failures of these men but not this stuff on Branham. HOWEVER, hearing this I do think you cannot throw the baby out with the water. Just because these men used deception I don't think you can conclude therefore there are no supernatural occurances or the Holy spirit could not give words of knowledge or discernment etc Also that deceptive spirits could not do the same also. Basically I'm not a cessationist but I recognise there are psychosomatic, cold reading, demonic and deceptive ways of replicating spiritual incite.

There needs to be a clear, specific definition of "cult." The word, cult is applied to many Christian denominations. If people are free to question the theology, free to listen to other teachers, free to visit other churches, free to not practice traditions, free to leave the church, then it's not a cult, in my opinion. By " free," I mean there is no punishment.

You are correct in that the word cult is used to mean different things. Christians use the word “cult” to refer to a group claiming to be Christian but missing primary Christian doctrine such as the Trinity, divinity of Jesus, who God is, the gospel. Cults usually are characterized by a charismatic leader or organization controlling its members behavior and knowledge.

He did not make a direct claim like “I am the Elijah” but he implied it. He said, true prophets don’t identify themselves directly. So for example he made statements like “the Angel told me ‘as John the Baptist forerun the first coming of Christ, you will fore run the second coming…’” and he connected it to Malachi 4:5-6 where it talks about Elijah coming before the great and dreadful day of the lord. Of course there are other scriptures he used to emphasise that there was an Elijah supposed to come at the end time for the gentiles (non jews).

I’d have to dig back into the book to find reference but I believe I remember actually reading that he asked that people stop calling him Elijah or the Lord would take him home, which happened. I would have to verify that but this is why I ask if anyone has a direct quote.

@@Alexdparkinson no, what upset Branham was when people started calling him “Jesus”. But if you read Pearry Green’s book “William Branham, the acts of a prophet” and some video testimonies on KZread, he details an account where he directly told Branham “I perceive you are that Elijah” and Branham did not deny it. For Branham’s own direct opinion on this Elijah, get “an exposition to the seven church ages”. There he talks in depth about the subject. Specifically the chapter on “laodicean church age” and sub title “the messenger”. I was in the movement for over 20yrs and the notion of Branham being the “Elijah to come” is the linchpin doctrine fundamental to the message. When One recognises this, they are considered to have received “the end time revelation”. In fact Branham is on record saying that the evidence of the Holy Ghost is “recognising the message for your age”…recognising that he is that Elijah, essentially.

What I'm seeing is. You left the truth and went into taking the mark of the beast. That shows you're not part of the Bride. William branham was Malachi 4. The spirit of Elijah turn us back to Acts 2 38 Mark 16 16 Deuteronomy 22 5 this is the way to eternal life . More truth, voice of God recordings

Friend you are terribly lost to say such words, I plead with you to see those Scriptures in light of the totality of Scripture & immediate context Mal4:5 & 3:1 have been fulfilled by John the baptist. Jesus tells us this and even says if you have ears to hear, let you hear Matt11:11-15, Matt17. Mark16:16-17 shows we are saved by faith alone in Christ/gospel. Saying that baptism is required for salvation in this verse because of the wording is committing the negative inference fallacy. You must look at acts2:38 with a heretical, works-based ens, from the Oneness Pentecostals, to establish such a twisting of Scripture. You clearly did not listen to 20 minutes of this 1hr20min video. You probably missed the first 5 videos as well. I encourage you to hear them and escape the false prophet/cult

@@jeremyjohnson4106 brother you can't convince me that John was Malachi 4. John was Malachi 3. I'm convinced and positive where I'm standing who William Branham was. He was the spirit of Elijah. Of Malachi 4:5-6. It is a must to believe God's prophet when he sends them and vindicate them by signs and wonders. His visions never failed he was definitely a true major prophet for our day. You don't want to know that on the day of judgment. It'll be too late to accept it. And may God have mercy on you, if you don't receive what I have told you is the truth.
