CubePilot adds Ethernet to the Cube Red ArduPilot flight controller.

Ғылым және технология

This is an unboxing of the next big thing in flight controllers. The CubePilot Cube Red has ethernet! It also has 2x H757 processors, each running their own independent copy of ArduPilot (or PX4 I think) and a lot of other very cool stuff.

Quad-SPI ( QSPI) is a game changer - the XIP mode allows 256MB Flash Ram to be seen as internal memory ( allowing bigger executables )!

Great stuff! Thank you! With the ethernet port could this FC conceivably be controlled by cellular signal? Thus eliminating issues with transmitter range?

That's already possible. and with "PPP" you can use an ethernet connection even with FC's that don't have the built in port (like the Pixhawk 6X as well). I put a Raspberry Pi and LTE in every large plane, and it can be used for backup control.

More to come. Next I'll be focusing on the ethernet, but I'll get to that. Thanks for watching!

So, I guess when I'm tuning a model on Red I will be tuning it on the primary - will there be a process of copying across the required param values to secondary or will that be left to the user?

Hi Scott, it's so new that these things haven't been figured out yet. It does make sense, but these kind of add ons are still to come. Thanks for watching!

@@molod5782 If you are buying just for ethernet, I'd probably suggest you look at the PixHawk 6X from Holybro. The CubeRed has a lot of other things you may not need.

@@timtheplaneman Profound... but it's not always for the best, is it? It IS for the best, this time, if you're already a billionaire, but I'm guessing that's not the case, for you. I know that you Canadians have been De-Balled a long time ago, but wait for the fireworks down south - they're coming.
