Cub Hawkins Shuts Down Ryan Jett in Explosive BYB 25 Showdown

Cub Hawkins halted Ryan Jett via doctor stoppage in round four at BYB 25: Brawl on the Bay in the April 4th main event.
When speaking to BKN, Hawkins also touched on his previous fight that saw him win the Police Gazette diamond belt at cruiserweight.
Now that the BYB light heavyweight belt was claimed against Jett, Hawkins fulfilled his promise to his corner of garnering two belts inside a handful of bare knuckle fights.
In the pre-fight build, Hawkins was slapped by his opponent at the weigh ins and it sent a banana he was eating flying. But the newly minted champ at 175 pounds knew karma would come the following night inside the Trigon. There’s an extra bit of satisfaction that Hawkins admitted to from defeating an opponent who put hands on him the day prior to the official fight.
When asked if there would be sportsmanship now between the two, Hawkins said
“Absolutely not. I’m not friends with anyone that I could potentially have a fight against. Even with what he did, we’re definitely not friends. When I see him and I have that belt, I hope he hates himself, man, because I love myself right now.”
Hawkins wanted to beat Jett for all six rounds after what happened pre-fight but is still happy about the finish in the fourth frame of the fight.
‘The Savage’ now wants to be a four time world champion and to that point is eyeing Sam Liera as well as LT Nelson eventually.
As far as what’s next, the 26 year old was initially supposed to fight Chad Kelly at BYB 25. He wished him well in recovery and hopes Kelly heals up by June to reschedule the bout between the two. Hawkin sees Chad Kelly as a big mental test and wants that contest inside the Mighty Trigon for the vacant BYB cruiserweight strap as was initially targeted.
