I, also, enjoy my Cub Cadet, Ultima Seties ZT1 54 mower. We live in the Cherokee National forest on a 70 acre farm. Our road up Stansbury Mountain is 1/2 mile long and pasture is 30 acres along a 3/4 mile road. Mow all this area an about 1 acre around the 20X30 foot barn in the pasture. Mowing time was cut in half with zero turn mower over conventional steering wheel 2 blade mower. This is the 2nd season for this mower. Found it much easier to remove deck to sharpen blades rather than to lift up mower in front. Also recommend to use a "All American Sharpener" rig to guide sharpening process. 7000 Series Kohler engine more than sufficient to mow my very hilly location in Turtletown, TN. 😊

Excellent review! I own the Ultima ZT1-54 24 HP and was going to do a review myself. After watching your review, I find no reason to do one myself. I wanted to compliment you on your use of drone photography. As a certified drone pilot (part 107), my compliments to whoever filmed and edited those scenes. As for the Ultima ZT1-54 24 HP, I highly recommend it to those considering a high quality zero-turn mower.

We got one on Sunday. We have 6 acres and have been using a Typical ride on tractor mower. It use to take me 10 hrs, a lot of back pain, constant slipping of the Belt, to get everything done. When I got on the Cub Cadet, Same one you have, I was done with everything in 3 hrs. Also I am a Disabled Vet with an amputation, Using this mower was NO problem. I felt like I was sitting in a Lazy boy chair and had NO back pain when done. It also went over the Mole holes with easy and didn't so much as slow it down.Went thru the First Mow of the year, high dense grass easily without hesitation, Best Piece of equipment we have ever bought

Glad you posted this! I'm building my home out on our 10 acres currently. We'll be moving in in July. I've been trying to figure out how big or small I need to go to get it mowed. Currently it's like 3-4ft tall and I have someone going out ther to shred it. It's all flat farmland so I dont have to worry too much about obstacles. Thanks for the video!

  • @DIYPETE

Congrats on the 10 acres and the new home going up. That's amazing! The person you hired probably is going to use some sort of a brush mower I'd guess to get it manageable. But then a normal mower like mine will be great. The bigger the better, but also the more expensive. My 54 inch honestly is awesome. A 60 inch would be preferred just to cut the time down a little bit, but mine does work great and I don't have any complaints. Congrats again!

  • @DIYPETE

I've sharpened the blades once this summer and it wasn't hard. Grease fittings are easy access. The open design does make getting to things nice, since panels don't get in the way or need to be removed. I have not yet changed the oil, but I don't think it will be too bad.

Hey Falcon! Congrats on all the land! Well, I'm not sure how much of the 26 acres you plan on mowing, but I think you'd want to go with a larger mower if possible. 3 point hitch mowers for a tractor can get pretty wide and are real affordable ( if you already own a tractor ) --- but you might want to look at the 60" version or something even larger. Cheers!

DIY PETE lmfao wow 10 acres on a zero turn man you have a lot of time..... when I first bought my property with 24 acres I was like yeah ok a couple week ends to cut it..... then realization hit..... is rather spend that time doing something I enjoy. I bought a tracker lol heat and ac with cup holders and a stereo life made easier. Tho I’m luckily enough I have enough acres that a local farmer comes and cuts it for the hay so he gets the hay and pays me 50 a bail which come out to a nice chuck of easy money for another toy.

Out of your 10 acres, how much would you say you mow? 6 acres?

Mike Gus Fifteen Hi Mike! I would say I mow around 7 or so of the acres when you take away the ravine areas, house, driveway, hockey rink, etc. I only mow the entire are about 3-4 times in the spring and early summer months until it gets dry here and stops growing. However, I continue to mow around 5-6 acres throughout the summer which I would consider the areas around the house, entryway, etc. cheers!

Remember to engage the PTO at half throttle, especially if you frequently get off and on. This will make your pto live longer.

I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. kzread.infoUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.
