Deck rebuild kit. It’ll come with all new spindles, idlers and a belt. Work the money if you want that deck to last. Good luck man!

I spent a week & a half on mine. Bought the whole deck rebuild kit. I did all the sanding media blasting etc. I bought a whole gallon of rust o tractor yellow. It spreads so far I could paint a combine. It was only $5 more than a Pint so why not? Im glad I didnt try to use those bolts that came with the reinforcing rings because I didnt watch your video until I was done filming and Im already in the editing process. Thanks for the tip I will include the thread pitch warning in my narration. I thought hey "Great minds think alike" when I saw you had er strung up. I hung mine from the rafters for the same reason "work smart & hard"

A couple things. Usually, although the spindles are greasable, the bearings inside have plastic covers which don't allow the grease to enter. The fix is to disassemble the spindle and remove the seals. Also, due to the bent deck and weld bead, it's important to confirm that the blade tips are actually even with each other to result in a even cut.

That is a very good point. The next time I take the deck off I might remove the plastic covers. I did not show on the video, but I did later check the blade heights and they all surprising were planer. Thanks for watching and adding a great tip.

You're missing the support support piece near the discharge. There's a flat bar that goes across the bottom of the opening that prevents the deck from collapsing if you hit something with the front wheel

That jack hack was awesome! I have the same mower with Briggs 560hours on the clock cuts better than my brand new ZT142 actually my deck is solid only issue is once it gets hot the right side hydro acts up.

Youre welcome. As I look more into it, it seems that this is a common problem with the design, and I think there are alot of machines out there that could use some love rather than be junked.

On mine the deck was shot but all of the spindles were still smooth. When I removed the spindles from the old deck every single spindle mounting bolt broke so I just drilled them out to 5/16 and ran bolts all of the way through and installed them on the replacement deck.

@@georgedolly8382 I found a whole mower for $400 that had a pretty good deck. Before that I had ordered a new deck but they canceled the order on me!

@@georgedolly8382 deck was original to mower. It wasn’t that bad rusted because they kept it in a garage. I keep it outside now covered but I blow all the fresh cut grass off it every time because that is one way moister will build up and rust the deck.

And actually I think you can go get a whole new aftermarket stamped deck for that mower for really cheap as well... like 80 bucks or something... The original Cub cadet though is stupid priced like seven or eight $900... So with the price of all the pulleys spindles blades belts and a new stamp deck you're still going to be around $200 or less...
